It certainly should be. Harmony prides themselves on having the largest database of devices so if it won't work I don't know what would.

I've got the 550 and am very happy with it. Logitech's database is immense so, as L2W indicates, if it can't control you're gear, it's doubtful anything will.

Only problem I've had with the 550 is that the backlight likes to stay in the "on" state. It's a minor annoyance, though.

That is fixable via the web update program.

I'm having the exact opposite problem in that the backlight, once it goes off after 30 seconds, does not come back on unless you press one of certain keys (activities, help, glow or an "additional button") or you wait for two hours. I think that if I pick up the remote that's been setting idle for a few minutes, the backlight should come on automatically so I can see what I'm doing. And it should stay on as long as I'm moving (therefore holding and using) the remote. This has got to be a firmware issue but they contend it's a hardware feature they cannot change. I've gotten four stories from four Logitech technicians about how this should or could work and now I'm waiting for a replacement remote which I doubt will operate any differently.

When you say it stays on, do you mean for longer than 60 seconds when the remote is not touched for that long? Or are you wanting it to go off immediately when you set it down? To help with my analysis, could you please set the lighted remote on a table then watch your watch and let me know if the backlight stays on for at least a full minute or when it goes off if it's sooner than that? If it goes off in less than a minute, does it come back on as soon as you touch it? I'm trying to verify that this is something that can change from one firmware release to another. If your backlight stays on for more than a minute, it's probably a different situation.

Before everyone says that I can turn on the backlight manually, yes, I know. If it's been sitting for at least two hours, the backlight comes on automatically. If it's been sitting for say 5 minutes, it doesn't light up until you fumble around in a dark room for one of the buttons that will light it. It only makes sense that if it can light itself after two hours, it should be able to light itself after 5 minutes.

Thanks for helping me with this.

At least you all knew it had a motion sensor. Damn thing freaked me out royal when I walked by and it turned on.

Then when I read it's supposed to do that, admittedly I was a little embarrassed.

When I say the backlight stays on, I mean it really stays on. Won't shut off unless I shut it off by pressing the glow button manually. If I let it sit for an hour, the backlight will stay on for an hour. I've tried adjusting the timeout value via the web update, but that didn't work, either. When it's not in use, I'll set it face-down so the motion sensor will effectively be disabled.

So here's a pleasant surprise. I decided to contact Logitech tech support about the backlight issue. Got an e-mail reply telling me to reapply the firmware. I did without success. It also instructed me on how to reapply the firmware in "safe" mode, which I tried next. No luck. I reported the lack of success to Logitech.

They reply telling me to expect a new 550 in 7-10 business days! The e-mail went on to tell me there's no need to return the defective 550 - I've been instructed to throw it away!

Pretty kewl tech support, if you ask me!

Same here. After a few emails back and forth, they sent me a new 550. It arrived yesterday but it still works the same way. My gripe is that when I pick up the remote, the backlight ought to come on without groping for the glow button. Heck, I can be holding it in my hand and moving it around. When the backlight timer runs out, the thing goes dark until I manually find and press the glow button again. I guess it's not a huge deal, but when I'm channel surfing as I do every night while in bed in a dark bedroom, I ought to be able to see the remote without constantly having to turn it back on again. When I set it down, it's fine to turn off the backlight after 30 seconds, but then when I pick it back up, it ought to light up again. The only way that happens is if it's been sitting for at least two hours and has entered deep sleep mode (the LCD shuts off). THEN, it will come on as soon as it's moved.

I give Logitech credit for trying to fix the problem and they were generous enough to replace the remote without requiring return of the old one. But the programming of the backlight feature is annoying.

Default Harmony 550

This question I just cant figure out, I have the 550 programed perfect but I wiped out the setup on the web program. Is there a way to copy the setup from 550 to web program again so in case of trouble I can just reprogram the 550 with the (copy)?...

Thanks
