Sony 3300ES Remote to control PS2

Hi. I am trying to set up my new Sony receiver;s remote to control other equipment including a PS2 which i am using as a DVD player. I go through the motions and use 313, 314, 315 but my PS2 does not take any commands. I see a tiny IR window on the PS2.

I also tried training my Sony remote to learn from the Dish network remote which works of RF and IR - it finished the learning process but it still does not work.

Sony manual is less than helpful - i see posts about Denon ...

Any help would be appreciated.
