Default Need Help Choosing Universal Remote

I am looking for a universal remote that will take care of all of my components and not cost me a small fortune. I know Harmony is the best, but even the cheapest is around $100. I am looking for a remote that is $50 or less, preferably less.

I need it to control my:

Toshiba HD-A2
Hitachi 50" Plasma
Direct tv
Pioneer Reciever

Some of my current remotes are universal, and I have an older universal touch screen, none will work with the A2, almost like the A2 uses some other kind of signal.

Any recommedations would be very very helpful. It needs to work with all of these components and not cost as much as a Harmony.

The only thing I can tell you is that the Harmony remotes are worth every penny. You could look for the H 659 which is less expensive than the other models and will work with all of your equipment. I currently have 3 of them and they work flawlessly with all of my new equipment. I really enjoy the one button feature for watching TV, watching movies or listening to music. It also has all of the controls of the original remotes which most other remotes do not have with the exception of the ones costing $300 and above. Harmony Remotes 659 I took that back to the store I never open it up and to me spending $100 bucks for a remote was a waste of money.

Out of the box the Radio Shack 15-2146 will work with all Pioneer (Audio) component button.

Toshiba is listen in the book using the pre-code mode if you need more features on the remote just use the simple setup an just press the button on your tv remote you want to clone. Very easy to use. I have 5 of these remotes and will get another tomorrow for my home office HdTV.. Which I need to mount on the wall now..

UEI remotes supports all Motorola DCT even 6416..

Default remotes

My problem with remotes is that so far every remote Ive ever bought was worthless.

Upcoming will be the 1st ever PRONTO or HARMONY remote purchase.

I would prefer Pronto, but it costs way too much.
Harmony is definately best for the price.

Personally, I'm not a fan of touch screen remotes...Harmony are not bad, but give URC a try. The MX series are a real fan a custom programmers and my personal favorite is the MX850.

A $169 remote is not affordable. I am looking for a remote that is well under $50, perhaps in the 20 to 30 range or cheaper that someone knows for a FACT works with the Toshiba HD-A2. So far, the two universals I have, one being a learning remote, plus all of the component remotes that are also universal, none will work with the A2. They won't even pick up the code if you do the search function.

Whon knows of a cheap universal that will work with the A2 out of the box?????

I feel your pain! This remote should get the job done...it's by URC, but its a consumer line that can be purchased pretty much anywhere.
http://universalremote.com/product_detail.php?model=50 most places sell it for about 19.99. and it can learn and set up macros.

Good Luck!

Default remotes

Unfortunately for me ...every remote ive ever had under $100 was trash.

One exception a old JVC remote for compulink based JVC.
But its approximately 20+ years old and back then was $125.00
Best remote Ive ever had till 3-4 years ago.

And it was big and way too many btns

Will research the choices... but I am not going to spend more than $300-400 for a remote.
