Remote Apps

Hi all,

I have a question about Remote Apps for Android or iOS.

Is someone using such apps to control the TV?
If not, why?

I am working on a private project, where I am implementing an Android TV Remote app for Tablet and Smartphones and want to find out how you think about such apps.

I have a couple of apps that let me use my android phone to control my Directv DVR/sat box. I rarely use them because I have a harmony remote and although the apps control my directv equipment they do not control the other components in my ht such as my AVR, Blu-ray player, xbox etc while my Harmony remote does and with much more robust finctionality. I do however use an app to remotely set my dvr to record - meaning if I am away and find out there is something I want to see and am not home I can use my phone to tell my dvr to record it for me so I can watch it when I get home.

Sure,....this app is implemented only for Android Tablet....you need a 10' or 7' Tablet running Android 3.2 or above!

....one drawback is, that it only works with Samsung SmartTVs

Not useful if you dont have an internet tv, so no good for me. Peel works fine except it only sends 3 digits when you pick a show from its suggested listings.

Its much easier to pick up my remote than start up my tsblet and start the remote ap, wait for it to find programs, switch a few screens and then change channels. Just not useful...yet.

I have uploaded the new version of this app which has some new features such as a channel import/export: Android Smart TV Remote: Channel import/export - YouTube

Other features are:
- Fixed connection problem with Samsung B-Series TVs
- Added support for channel inluding a dash, e.g. "5-8"
- Added Import/Export channel functionality to save (in folder "smarttv_channels") and restore your channels. Copy them across devices or use this function for creating different favorites and switch between them by using the import functionality.
- Added missing media buttons on 7' Tablets
- Added russian localization
- Added portuguese localization
- Fixed smaller bugs

IT IS VERY GREAT AND LOOKING PERFECT,
i have mostly seen many apps but those are simple, that will have to use.

the new version for the Tablet version is available.
The main new feature is an app widget:
