harmony 880 button problem

i have had the 880 for about 3 years and about a couple of weeks ago the volume up button does not work immediately. have to keep pushing about 4 or 5 times to raise the volume. the down button works the 1st time. is this an indication of a potential problem with the remote? anything i can do to correct the problem?

Sounds like the contact for the up button is failing.

After four years of use, our 880 buttons began failing in the same way. The commonly used activity buttons and the volume buttons got less and less responsive. The Harmony threads at AVS contain advice on how to take the remote apart and repair the button contacts. But, I never felt comfortable trying that. We mapped volume to the page up and down buttons, which worked just fine. In the end, I got a Harmony One. Love it.
