Default Sony red blinking light diagnostic

Hi can anyone tell me what the problem may be with my Sony KDS-R50XBR1 rear projecion. The tv turned off and the red right blinks 3 times over and over.
Thank you,
Frank

Have you mooved the tv?
This normally indicate that the lamp door is not correctly closed.
This can also be caused by the switch that detect that condition.

OK, yes the door is off. I didnt count the number of blinks first. When I seen the red light blinking I unpluged the tv, opened the door, pulled the bulb, replaced the bulb, plugged the tv back in and turned it on. It was blinking 3 times. I did not replace the door. The door is now back on.

The red light is now blinking continuously without pausing. Anyone know what that is.

I'm hoping it's the bulb. I'm sure that is probably the is the cheapest fix.
Thank you

OK I think I may be a complete idiot! The red light that is blinking continuously is the light that says lamp under it. I'm guessing that it is the lamp. Kinda makes sense. The tv is 2 1/2 years old and I have been told that is the typical lamp life.
Any additional info from you guys would be greatly apriciated.
Thank you.

Got it! It was the lamp. Picture is as clear as when it was new. SJ44 thank you for your help. You were right on about the lamp door.

Hi,I've gotten customers who call me up to see whats wrong with their tv when its only that they havent closed up the back door, guys please doublecheck before I start selling you or try to repair your tv.Also the red light might not necesarily mean its the lamp sometimes its the ballast,so pay attention for strange noises like cliking, buzzing, whirling sounds.

the orange light on my Sony is blinking 4 times. I have found some troubleshooting tips that give me an idea of what it is, but no idea how to fix it. Any ideas?

Four flashes means 'Fan Stopped'. There are several fans, three or four, can't recall. The fans can be failed, so plugged up with dust that they can't turn or can't turn fast enough, somehow the wires that feed power to them got disconnected or broken, or some other object is blocking the blades from turning.

Concentrate on the lamp fan, right above the lamp. It has the hardest job and generally takes the most abuse. I've seen them so plugged up with dust and lint that they are completely blocked.

My Sony KDS-60A2020 turned itself off today while playing perfectly. I left the room for about an hour to check internet and returned to the set off and the front power light blinking 4x and pause. I turned the set on and it blinked green several times and heard a click in the rear of set that switched the green light to the red 4x code signal.I changed the Philips lamp to a new extra back up but there was nothing shattered on the lamp I removed and the set did the same warning red light code with the new lamp. How do you inspect the fan above the lamp?Does it require removal of the back chassis panel or can it be inspected inside the lamp door where it mounts?
