Default 3 blinking red lights on my sony wega kdf e60a20

oh man i hit a problem after 4 years with my 60 tv. last night the red lights (lamp) started blinking. the red light (power) just stayed red, no blinking. unplugged, plugged back in and i could see the program on the screen, though very very dim..

i decided to wait till morning and installed the original lamp.

now the red lights blink three times, pause, three times, pause etc. on the power. lamp option there is nothing. the fan turns on for a couple of seconds and turns off. no picture whatsoever now.

i thought it might be the thermal fuse but the lights dont blink 5 or 6 times like most people whove had that problem.

warranty is expired. i am thinking about ordering another lamp. not sure i want to do that yet in case something else is the culprit

Hi,did you close everything as it was?Any strange noises? If you cliking or like something trying to turn on it could be the ballast which is the board that powers the lamp. Was the older bulb foggy, broken ,dark? did you order the original philips lamp xl-2200?
http://www.discount-merchant.com/Son...1753a_lamp.htm Did you reset the tv?

ok here it goes, how old is the lamp that was in there and the picture was dim and what brand was it. why did you take the original one out was it giving you a dim picture too or did it just die out and are you getting any weird noises or tv vibrating, i think that it could be just the lamp but it could also be the ballast depending on your reply

Hi,

So my TV was turning off every 1-2 minutes and would turn itself back on. I removed the back and cleaned out the dust. I later open the front panel and took out the bulb to clean. I put the bulb back in closed up the front and when I tried to turn it on I get 3 red lights.

What do you think the issue is?

::EDIT::

I fixed it, there was a piece of the casing i never put on, I know im retarded good thing it didn't screw it up.

I did the same thing LuayS did. I replaced my lamp and put the lamp assembly back in and put the cover on. I got the blinking three red lights. There is another plastic component (that fell behind the TV stand) that needs to go in before the cover.
I put that in, put the cover on and now all is fine.

Default I fixed my TV

my lamp blowup and I got a new one from amazon, It's an original one from Philips and came with casing.
I changed the lap very easy and did some cleaning, The TV turned on for a few minutes and then it shut off and the power light blinked 3 times and if i tried to turned on again it just turn the power led green and then it start to blink red three times. I tried removing the lamp several times and then put it on again and still had the 3 red blinks. I leave it all night unplugged and try the same (remove lamp, turn on TV) and at first it turn on but in a few minutes it shut off and start to blink red again.

So what I did is changed the lamp casing of the new lamp to the old casing, and that seems to solved the problem.

I noticed the old casing has some metal in the interior of the lamp area and the front crystal fits tighter. I believe that the new casing was overheating and the TV was protecting itself and tuned off.

also vacuum all the fan area and the inside of the light tunnel helps.

Default blinking red power light.

Same as other guys. I pulled out the light. Cleaned up the dust with a vacuum and blowing with my big mouth, put it all back together, and it started up like nothing ever happened. The dust that I cleaned out smelled burnt if that tells us anything. Overheating???? I'm just glad I don't have to go buy a new TV. I don't know if I want to spend money repairing a five year old rear projection TV. Time will tell.

If you are still having the same problem its going to be those darn sensors that tell the tv the lamp cover is open, you need to bypass the sensor, cut the wires and join them together and booya.
