Hi guys, I know I'm new here but I'm having some trouble, and I've searched the forums to no avail.
This problem started about 4-5 months ago, and has progressively gotten worse. My TV is out of warranty so when I called Samsung and some local repair shops, they wanted outrageous money just to look at it. So the issue is, when I power on my TV it sometimes wont turn on, just immediately turns back off, sometimes it turns on just fine. The real issue is when i switch from a cable signal threw coax, to say HDMI or Component, the TV starts to power cycle. It will turn off and on, continuously. After anywhere from 30 seconds to well, infinity it will actually come on. I have switch hdmi and power cables, component cables, pretty much everything. Has anyone else ever seen or heard of this, and any advice would be appreciated! |

First thing to try is to unplug the TV for a couple of hours to possibly reset the TV. If that doesn't solve it, I would think as a next guess that it is either the lamp or the ballast that is the problem. if not one of those, then it could be the power supply or a circuit board.
It could be many things so you might want to try to find the service manual for your model and see what the troubleshooting in that might say. Good luck & welcome to the forum!

Thanks for the reply, I'll try the to unplug it and find me an owners manual. If it is the lamps or the ballast, how can i get to them to see if they need to be reset or replaced? I've tried getting into it, but I guess I'm not good enough ha!
And I'm very glad to be here! |

Ok, so I've finally found a way around this, and if you have this problem I'm going to tell you how to fix it!
I wound up calling Samsung directly, and as soon as I was connected, I ask to speak to their Executive Call Center, and was transfered immediately. I was instantly greeted by an operator who was very professional and courteous (American too!). After explaining the problem to her and telling her I was very happy up until this point, she extended my warranty another 45 days! They are sending someone out here tomorrow to fix it! Its good to see that some companies actually care about their reputations and are willing to help! |

The cause is the capacitors on the power board go bad, because they are to small. This being a higher end model, it isn't as frequent, but he said it still happens, they replace the board with a new one that has much larger capacitors, and mail the old one off to samsung for them to rebuild it!
If there is anything else you need to know, just leave me a note, i can even provide some pictures and a tutorial for those who wanna do it themself! |
