Default what are the screen protectors made for rear projection crt based tv's called

and do they make the picture sharper like they advertise and where can i get them, and are they worth it?

Depends on your particular make and model. Often, removing the stock protective screen can enhance the picture. But the drawback can be more glare if your viewing room has a problem controlling ambient light, and makes your display more susceptible to damage, usually by children's wandering hands.

I am sure some RPCRT afficionados have more info to impart with regards to optional screens, etc.

I've never heard of these being sold by third parties, they're options on certain models. Only available from the manufacturers, not an add on.
