Default Light Engines for the Sony KDF 50",60" Same?

OK I did a search and couldn't find this answer. I thought for sure I read that the 60" Light Engine of KDF series would work in the 50" as well. Is this True?

Tri State quoted 300.00 to redo mine. Convergence problem after I deep cleaned it. Dumb Arse!

It doesn't make sense to me that a 60" light engine would work in a 50" display, but stranger things have happened. I would confirm this with Sony by getting the part number and comparing them.

Good luck!

Actually, I believe they are. It's the lens that makes the difference.
For a more definitive answer check Sony part numbers as suggested, or go to www.agoraquest.com ..bunch of Sony nuts over there, including some that are actually knowledgeable.

They are NOT interchangeable.
Digi processing is also different for the 50" & 60".

There are a total of 19 models under recall right now.
XBR1 engines are under recall until the end of June, 2009.

Not true. The digital processing in the 50" and 60" models of the same series is the same.

The Sony XBR1 RPTV models were SXRD (LCoS) sets. The cited KDF prefix indicates that the OP's TV not an SXRD set. It is an LCD RPTV.

The difference is in the magnification provided by the lens system.

Thanks for saving me the trouble of clarification, Brian.
