I have a wd-57731 that I bought back in Sept 06. I went down tonight to watch tv and the tv would not turn on. I pressed the power button on the front panel, and the power button on the remote, and nothing. I hit the system reset button on the front panel, and it went into reset mode, light flashed for approx. 1 minute, and still after that it wouldnt turn on. I then checked for the error code, and it came back with a "12" which is no problem found. I then tried to unplug and restart, still wouldnt turn on. Then I tried to do a full system reset, "I think it was format and input button" but I couldnt get it to do that. I then hit the reset button again and held the power button down, and suddenly it turned on. Now it works fine. What gives? Any ideas as to what is going on?

First I am glad that you got it working again.
It could be that the lamp life is coming to the end of life and needs to be replaced soon, but the TV didn't respond to a warning of such and resetting it solved the issue for now. It could be that you have that issue outlined in the Mitsubishi blinking light of death thread here: "Blinking Green Light of Death" - a frequent prob. w/Mitsubishi rear-proj widescreens It sounds likely that there is something more than just a lamp near the end of life as a guess though, so I would call Mitsubishi and see what they say. Do you have an extended warranty on your display?

Thanks for the response. I dont have an extended warranty. I don't feel that it is the cap's problem. I have looked into this and it (at this time) doesnt appear to be affecting this year of production/model numbers. I did have one tech think that it might be that one of the buttons had some residual current in it and they said that if the computer thinks that one button is being pushed, then no other buttons would respond. They suggested that if it happens again, to unplug the tv, press all of the buttons several times, and then turn it back on and it should work. Ok, I guess that is a possibility. As for the lamp, I checked it and it appeared very clean, (obviously you cant tell when a lamp will go) and it only has 1600 hours on it. it is scary to think of what I paid for this tv and to think that it might not last....
