Default Samsung HL-T6187SA bad picture quality

I have a Samsung HL-T6187SA. Last week we had an electrical outage and when power came back on my picture looks like crap. It looks worse than a SD signal. I spoke to direct TV and i have all my HD settings correct with them. I looked in the manual for my samsung and I cannot find anything in their that tells me how to make sure I am getting a HD signal or picture setting.

How do I adjust the picture quality to get an HD picture. I have a call in t the service tech with Samsung to hopefully come out to my home next week but would like to try everything I can. The TV is only 5 months old. I am using HDMI cables and before the outage my picture quality was awesome.

I should say, my TV last week also would black out and come back on. I never lost the audio but the video would black out for about 3 seconds as if the bulb was going bad.

Any help would be a ppreciated.

Welcome to the forum!

It sounds like the bulb/lamp is going fast. Was the TV on when the power went out? Lamps need the fan to blow over it to cool it down and if the power went out while it is on it did not cool down properly. This is why you should have it plugged into a UPS.

As far as how to know what resolution the signal being fed to the tv is, you should look for an "INFO" button. That should do it.

Good luck!
