Computer audio problem with Samsung HLT5076SX

I am trying to set up my computer to play video through my Samsung HLT5057SX/XAA. I have a Radeon HD 2400 Pro graphics card. I am outputting the video through the DVI output on the HD 2400 by using a DVI to HDMI converter doo-hicky and then running the HDMI cable to the TV. The HDMI cable plugs into the "HDMI3/DVI IN" input. The video works fine, but where I'm having trouble getting the audio to work properly. I am running the audio out of the speaker jack in the computer through a mini-jack to RCA Y-splitter cable. This cable is plugged into the "DVI IN" input on the TV. Here's where the trouble comes. I have a pioneer receiver that controls my surround sound system. I use an optical cable to connect the receiver to the TV. The cable runs from the "DIGITAL AUDIO OUT" output from the TV to the input on the receiver. When I watch a video from the computer, I get audio through the TV's speakers, but not through the surround sound speakers. The frustrating thing about this is that the exact same setup works just fine from both the Component inputs, as well as the "PC IN" input.

If anyone has any suggestions as to how I can get the audio from my computer out through my surround sound system, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

The problem is that your digital output from your TV does not support the PC input, or ouputing it properly. I would simply go strait into the Pioneer from your PC's soundcard. Is this a laptop or PC and does your sound card have a digital (toslink/spdif) out? If not you can get a new sound card with 1 for around $30-$50. You can also get a USB version for around the same if it is a laptop.

Thanks for the quick response. I do have a digital output in the back (it's a desktop btw), but I actually don't think it's attached to anything... I think it's just there to allow for the possibility of "expanding." However, at your suggestion, I moved the existing Y cable to the input on the receiver (it has an RCA input) and now it works. Guess I was trying to over complicate things

. But, bypassing the TV all together works perfectly.

I have a Visiontek 2400 HD also but mine seems to have different output than yours, mine has VGA, DVI, and HDMI is yoursa one that has dual DVI outputs only?

My HD 2400 only has on DVI output, one VGA output, and one all-but-useless (in this world of HDMI) S-Video output. My HD 2400 is the video card that came with my Acer Aspire AM5630, so I'm guessing it's just about the cheapest, bargain version out there. However, for the price I paid for the computer, I'm not complaining

I hear that, can't really see spending serious money on computers these days unless you really need it. Is your system got the Realtek HD audio--I also have a Acer and you can use that to send sound to your reciever
