I have a 65 inch mitsubishi DLP. Its approx 10 years old and i paid about $12k for it !
Its still a wonderful tv but now I get a red and green blinking light and the tv wont always turn on.. when it does, it suffers from no other problems, still really love this set and would love to resolve this!! Can anyone help? It makes a clicking noise 3 times and then i get the red and green blinking lights

I have a WD-57732 that has the blinking timer light issue. When this problem first started happening I replaced every 1000uF Cap on the power board, and the input board, along with every 680uF cap. The big capacitors tested fine with a Capacitor meter. I still get the blinking green light issue. Would a bad bulb cause the BGLOD? If not, anything else I can try?

Maybe someone could help me here. I have a Mitsubishi Ws-55511 and it has the blinking green light syndrome. I have replaced the capacitors once before and fixed the problem. Now same problem again. Changed capacitors but now it still blinks. Not sure where or what to check from here. Any ideas from anyone would be helpful.

Default Mitsubishi WS-55909 shuts off after 1 minute after replacing capacitors

After a power outage in the neighborhood our Mitsubishi 1080 HDTV WS-55909 only had a blinking green light on the front (no variation or pattern), even after the set was powered down. Upon reading online, it appeared the DM module capacitors were the likely culprit, so I sourced (7)1000 16v microfarad capacitors and replaced them, then reassembled the TV. (The Radio Shack 35v capacitors wouldn't fit on the board, too wide.) This was the first time I'd soldered on a circuit board, so of course a lot of things might have gone wrong. However, after that the TV now powers up, but I only have a blue screen and cannot get the remote to work except to power the TV on and off (tried changing batteries in remote, reprogramming remote per setup manual, etc). Further, the TV powers off after 70-75 seconds.

I then tried to see if I could get any of the attached devices to work on their own with no other devices on except the TV. Each of them yielded a blue screen (X-Box, VCR/DVD recorder, Wii, cable) except the DVD player -- which displayed a great picture! The problem is the DVD will play 75 seconds then the TV will shut down and the green light will blink steadily (no pattern) for 60 seconds, then power down. And this only works if the DVD is on before the TV is turned on, and since the remote doesn't work I have to press "play" on the DVD player. The DVD is hooked to Component Input 2 so that input appears to be working fine. The VCR/DVD recorder is attached to Component Input 1. When I had it powered up and turned on the TV, I got a blue screen. However, when I left the VCR/DVD on and then turned on the DVD, there were jagged lines on the TV for 3-5 seconds, then the TV made a popping sound and shut off. When I then turned on the TV (i.e., with both the VCR/DVD and the DVD on first), the DVD worked but could not switch to the VCR/DVD without the TV turning off.

I also tried switching the cabling for the DVD to Component Input 1, but the DVD no longer worked. When I tried the VCR/DVD on Component Input 2, it still only yielded a blue screen. So is Component Input 1 bad? And why would the TV work with the DVD in Component Input 2 but not the VCR/DVD?

Obviously I have multiple problems here. The first one to deal with is the TV shutting off after 75 secs. I am unable to see where I can get an error code when the blinking light just blinks quickly without any pattern, and neither the front panel controls nor the remote control work. Perhaps most of my inputs on the rear of the TV don't work now except Component Input 2 but I don't know how to test this.

So I made a little headway with the capacitor replacements, but not sure what I can do at this point. Any suggestions? I've seen references for other Mitsubishi big screens that shut down like this, and the fix was related to the output power module, but not sure if it applies the the WS-55909.

Also saw reference to fuses on the DM module, but don't know where they are and no picture/diagram was provided, just a mention.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Would this be the same with the WD C-65733 as well? I really do not want to have to purchase a new TV if I can fix this one.

If that's one of the sets affected by the blinking light, you could try, but it's not technically part of the settlement, so they might shut you down, but it is worth a call or two to their settlement hotline to find out for sure.

People, Please! :

I occasionally have time to check my email, and don't come to this forum too often. If you want the repair instructions I've got, you need to email me at pds318(at)frontier.com and include your email address. I don't have time to sort thru the "message properties" to figure it out, or to PM you back through this forum to beg you to tell me where to send it.

Thanks, Paul D318
