I just got this television yesterday. I'm using it with a Philips DVP 5900 DVD player and HDMI connection. The video looks great, but the audio occasionally "stutters" or cuts out. There will be very brief periods of silence in the audio. It seems to be more common when there is a lot going on, either a lot of motion on screen or when the audio is constant (big musical swells in the soundtrack or noisy battle scenes). The audio on the TV is fine when watching cable (even the few digital channels that come over the wire unencrypted) or using my Wii (connected via component cables).
Until yesterday, I was using this DVD player with a 480P tube TV and HDMI without any issues. I've tried changing the audio and video settings on the DVD player to see if upconverting in the TV is the cause of the problem. This didn't make any difference. I don't have component cables to try instead of the HDMI cable, but I'm planning to pick some up to see if that makes a difference. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks! |

Just got off the phone with Samsung tech support. Some of their TV's have an issue they're calling "audio dropout" that is fixed by a firmware upgrade. I'm waiting for the necessary files to come in via email. I'll update this thread with the results.

Just a little update. I'm not very happy with Samsung tech support. I called three times yesterday and once again today. They've supposedly "sent" the firmware three times. In this case, "sent" means they submitted a request to have level two support send me the actual email. What a pain.
Anyone have any hints for dealing with the Samsung tech support folks? |

You might want to try going to their website support area and see if the firmware update is available there.

Just got the firmware today via UPS on a thumb drive. I was expecting them to send it via email. Oh well. Anyway, I updated from firmware version 1020 to 1022 and my audio dropout problem is fixed. I'm very happy with this television now!
