I was speaking to a salesman the other day about a new model 1080p DLP unit and he told me that most 1080p TVs will accept a 1080p signal through HDMI but will only process it at 1080i and then upsample it for display. Is there any truth to that and are there any DLPs with true 1080p processing?

What the salesman said makes no sense...not surprising however.
DLP is a progressive display technology. The opposite would be true...that is if a 1080p DLP TV only accepts 1080i, it will automatically deinterlace it to 1080p. If the 1080p TV can truly accept a 1080p input signal...then it wouldn't have to do anything.BTW...this question should have been posted in the Rear Projection TV forum.
