The transaction couldn’t have went smoother and they have the BEST phone support of any online company I’ve every dealt with-regardless of type!
After about a week I decided 34” was just too small, so I ordered the new KDS-R50XBR1. They agreed to let me keep my current TV until the new one is shipped (even though it will be longer then the thirty day window). The delivery company will deliver the new one and pick up the old one. I did have to pay 100.00 for the return shipping, but that’s fair. (If is damaged it’s free).
The stand? I couldn’t find a nick on it!
Over all, if I’m going to be spending that kinda $$, I want to know that if there’s any, and I do mean any issues, the company is going to be there to make things right, period!!
I have had the same type of experience with Crutchfield buying a tv and redoing my trucks a/v system. I've got them on speed dial.

Thumbs up

Bought my Toshiba 57" HDTV rear projection online last week at bestbuy. Free shipping. Free home theater system w/built in prog scan dvd player- how cool is that? Took 6 days for delivery. Delivery guys called me the day before delivery to set up a time, which was between 3 and 5 pm. They showed up exactly at 3pm, hauled in the tv, unboxed it, cleaned up their mess and were out the door in 10 minutes. Friendly guys, very professional.

Would I recommend this to a friend? Sure. Would I swear by bestbuy? Dunno. This experience could be the exception to the rule. But based on what transpired, which was really nothing, I feel this was as smooth of an online transaction as I expected. They shipped the dvd player separately via UPS so I was able to track it.

Hope you have as pleasant an experience as I did with bestbuy.com

There is a lot of animosity towards, BB as well as others. Most post their bad experiences. I think it is only fair to say, it is expected most shopping experiences will be uneventful at any popular retailer. Online or local.

Someone will always jump into the fray and cuss and rant about this or that. It's only human nature.

Regardless of where you shop (and a little extra care with online) it is the INFORMED consumer who generally has fewer problems.

Thumbs up Today bought Sony 60" SXRD -- KCSR60XBR1

Ordered this Sony online from TV CITY.TV - in Spring Valley, NY. Had great price of $3,686.96 plus $253.91 to ship to Dallas. For a total of $3,940.87. Local purchase with tax was $5, 461. Chris was very professional and did not pust any other items or extended warranty. On my Master Card, I get another matching 1 year warranty extention. Call Chris at 1-800-488-2489.
Delivery is estimated for 7-10 days. Being an engineer, I did hours of research on product and purchase options. Will post more when plugged in and working. Ben in Dallas

I have been purchasing all my electronic equipment online for a few years and never had a major problem. I just purchased the Sony HDD250 HD tuner hard drive recorder from OneCall with 100% success and a great price. I ordered my Samsung HLR-6168 from Butterfly Photo, which caused me the most problems but still was 100% success. The tv came the first time with a broken screen but they shipped another within a week which has been perfect. That was actually the only problem I have ever had and I would say I have made about 10 major purchases online. Make sure you check Nextag or PriceGrabber for price and reviews of the online dealer and you will save mucho dinero.

Got my Samsung HL-R5688w from Vanns.com. Good price, good customer service, delivered in perfect condition tho their delivery people only do curbside delivery. No problems and I would recommend them if you've got a way to get the set into your house.

Today, I got my 42A10 from crutchfield. It was delievered via eagle freight. The box has no dents or such and the box itself looked like you could walk on it with no issue.

Two problems with eagle, bottom of the box was dirty and they let it slide down the stairs. So the steps are now dirty and I dont mean just here and there, I mean a streak. And the other is that they didnt unpack the box even thou it says it on the worksheet. This was mentioned but they said something like not in this case or such and got the hell out quickly. I will be calling eagle and crutchfield about this, most just to vent but we'll see how they respond. I'll let you all know.

Maybe you should have tired Digital 5678.. .seriously, I don't know why people don't stick with the proven internet retailers like onecall.com, abtelectronics, vanns.com, crutchfield, etc. etc. Is the lowest possible price your ONLY concern?
I can't speak for all of them, but I know with onecall you would have received your package in half the time you've been waiting for the email. Good luck!

Smile TV Authority

Had a good experience with them - they had issues with getting a credit card auth as they were putting it in as a foreign transaction or something. That delayed the process but overall it was good.

Try abtelectronics.com

Crutchfied is good too, but somewhat further. Oh, well, these displays are shipped all over before you ever get your hands on them.
I don't think that is a major deal, but customer service is a big deal.

Thumbs up Purchase at dr plasma

Ordered my new Samsung DLP 5078 from dr plasma 11/10 received the TV on 11/21 a little pass the promised date of 11/18, but I was not at home to schedule delivery any sooner.

TV arrived undamaged, and although I had only paid for "curb side delivery" the delivery service man helped me bring the TV into the house and set it in the stand I had just made for it.

I am very pleased with the TV so far. Receiving HD over my exsisting TV antenna. Seventeen "HD" channels tuned in (not all in HD lots of weather only channels not in HD)

DVD's look great I like the Zoom picture function when watching the very wide sceen DVDs. (really shrink the black bars at the top and bottom, I can't see any lost of quality!)

I ordered the TV sight unseen (none of the local stores and any idea when the new Samsung TVs would be in)

Took advantage of the Samsung offer for free Who DVD set and a free upconverting DVD player. although it is hard to imagine any inprovement in picture quality. (will post again if the new player is indead an improvement.

Spent $3174.58, which was more than $300 cheaper than crutchfields, and no tax! I tried to talk to the salesman at crutchfields about an earlier promotion they had, but he did not want to deal. I think their sales people are just there to help you fill out an online order.
