Just want to say that this was the best decision ever. Let me tell you my story quickly. I bought the Panasonic PT-43LC14 from Circuit City about two weeks ago. The PQ was great but the fan noise was the worst. YES I WILL SAY IT AGAIN, THE PT-43LC14 HAS A LOUD FAN NOISE. Do not buy it. You will regret the noise later on. So I went to Circuit City and had them replace it for the Sony KDF-42WE655. The tv came yesterday and I was watching HD football. Was so much clearer and better than the Panasonic. Really no fan noise at all. So much quieter. My HD DVR box is now louder than it. Thank you all in this forum for helping me to decide on the Sony.
Now a few questions. It says that this tv has a built in hd tuner. Does that mean that I can get other HD channels besides those that I am receiving from Time Warner Cable in NYC. How do I get these other channels. Do I need to buy and HD antenna? And if no antenna is needed, what do I need to do to get it working. Next, I would like to see if I can get the reds to show a little brighter. What would adjust that in the settings menu. Picture?Brightness?Color?Hue? Lastly, can anyone who HAS this tv please tell what they have there settings at. Should I leave it on Vivid, Standard, or Pro? Any what do they have everything else set at. thank you all. |

You would need to get an outside antenna to pick up any HD signals that your cable system doesn't include on their channel lineup. I only receive 1 more HD channel thru my apartment house master antenna, compared to many more on my Cablevision IO setup. I also live in the NYC area.
On my Sony KDF-42WE655, I have my video setting set to these numbers....but I might add, these numbers give me the most pleasing picture and not the most accurate, ie: the color saturation is slightly higher than normal, but it looks great! Vivid Picture - maximum Brightness - 35 Color - 25 ( I drop this setting to 20 depending on the signal from the different TV stations) This setting will also make your red colors brighter, but it'll also affect the skin tones) Hue - 0 Sharpness - 37 Color Temp - Warm Noise Reduction - Off Try these settings an let me know how you like them.
