Default Sony SXRD 50" KDS50A2000 on Sale at Circuit City

I am just about convinced to make this purchase and have been deciding about going to Best Buy or Circuit City. Today I noticed on line that Circuit City is selling this unit for $ 2199.99, while Best Buy is at $ 2499.99. Both have extended service plans. Circuit City a 2 year at $ 259.99 and Best Buy a 4 year at $ 399.99.
Some questions...I like the BB 4 year plan, since I would receive longer coverage. Will BB match the CC price ? and after the CC 2yr plan, do they offer reasonable extensions ?

Any thoughts or help would be appreciated. Thanks

DO THIS.

WALK INTO BEST BUY AND TELL THEM TO BEAT THE CIRCUIT CITY PRICE.

they have to do it and will more then likely beat it by 10%. make sure to bring proof of the circuit city price. print out the page that shows the tvs price and that should be enough. you can get best buy to drop the price on the warranty but you gotta ask first. tell them your not interested at that price and to have the kid ask a manager to lower it. i have seen this happen first hand twice and both times the price was lowered atleast $100. do this and you will get the service plan you want and tv at cheaper prices.

How about go to CC and ask them for the price of their 4 year warranty and if its anymore than BB's just ask them to make up the difference on the price of the TV. If you came in my store I would do it, and if the store in your area wants your business they should do it too.

i work at sears also, and our price for the sxrd is more expensive, but we do price match, and also give you ten percent off the difference of the two prices, also we have a 5 year waranty plan, and it is 749.99 if you want to extra coverage, and our 3 year one is 499.99.

CC will beat BB by 10%. BB just meets CC prices. I don't shop BB anymore, they have pissed me off too many times. I have had BB not match a price even when I brought in a CC ad and they looked at it. CC never gives me any problems with price matching. The thing would be if BB has the same set for $100 less then CC beats their price by 10%. As far as extended warranties, I don't know who has the best price on those.

Gentile go into BBY have them match CC.Get the Reward Zone program which will send some GC's back.BBY offers the better plan @ 399.99 for 4 years.Covers everything but physical damage and 1 bulb replacement.CC and Sears offer 5 years which are very expensive. Also one quick question ,Do you have cable or satellite?

I have Comcast cable. I did purchase the set from Best Buy, using my reward card. BB did match the CC price. I signed up for the 4 year service plan, which does cover one lamp replacement. The set is being delivered on Sunday. Thanks for all the good advice.

Regardless of where you buy the set, you don't have to buy the extended warranty from them. You can buy an EW directly from Sony (No bulb) or from other 3rd parties for much less.

That particular one does not cover the bulb I know, but is very popular because it is from Sony. I personally went with another warranty that did include the bulb because my TV is on a lot with my daughter watching movies and I'm a night owl so it's always on while I'm working on my laptop.

HiImdrummer03,

How are you liking that KDL-V32XBR1 you have in the bedroom? I'm thinking of something new for our room?

I have a question, when they say they price match plus 10% of the difference. Does that mean they give you 10% off of the total the television cost? Or is it 10% of the difference of the two prices?

That is an awesome price. A 1080p 56" set for under $2100. It also has cable card and 2 IEEE 1394 inputs and JVC's new dynamic optical iris. I belive the firewire inputs are the only ones that accept 1080p. The HDMI does not.

That is too good to pass up.

BB also has the 62" 1080p Toshiba DLP for $2239.99. That is a great price as well.

i would be careful with the jvc lcos. im not trying to stir anything up here just giving my opinion and explaining what i have noticed latley.

alot of stores have stopped selling a e.w. with the jvc lcos. there has been people who have come to this forum and backed this up. its due to the jvc having reliability issues. a local sears went through a few demo models before they stopped turning the tv on. i believe the same thing happened to some people who work at sears and frequent this forum.

i have had issues with jvc myself. while i loved the picture the reliability of the tv itslef was horriable. dealing with jvc to get my tv fixed was about the worst experience i ever had with any company. every tech i have talked to ( and i know quite a few ) has told me jvc and HP are about the worst companies to deal with when there is a problem. they have told me this without me telling them my experience first. so it was there honest opinion. i have dealt with both of those companies and i would say HP is worse ( just because there reps. cant talk or understand simple english. i mean if the computer in front of them doesnt have the answer to your question then they wont say anything but repeat whats on there screen like there a robot ) and jvc a distant second.
