Let me just start with that I have four Toshiba TV sets in my house. With this in mind, I bought a Toshiba 62mx195 DLP 1080p set. I have never, ever, ever, had this much trouble getting a company to respond to problems in the manner that they have. Start with a hum at start up that becomes intermittent with a cycle of about 2 or 3 seconds every minute. Follow this with a call to Toshiba where they give you a number to a local service center. Wait 8 days to get the guy to your house. Guy walks in, says "It's your light engine, you need to have it replaced. The color wheel is not spinning correctly and it and the light engine are all part of one assembly on the Toshiba". Next, wait nine days, call Toshiba and find out that they are waiting on a "tech guy" to get back to your service guy. Tech guy tells service guy to unplug the color wheel and perform another operation before they will approve the new light engine assembly. Problem is that all of the other parts that they are having him look at are part of the same assembly that they replace whole anyways, so if those parts were bad, the same assembly would have to be sent anyways. Service guy calls techs, techs finally agree five days later to ship part which then arrives seven days later, we are now up to roughly four weeks. Service guy finally comes out on day 34 and installs the new part. Set works for one day, and then another hum, that is not the normal DLP hum develops. Get a call from Toshiba two days later, asking about the service, tell them the set is on the fritz again and they offer to get you the phone number for the service guy again. No, the set is gone. I was told that Toshiba is beyond a pain in the a$$ to get ahold of and deal with, and it proved to be true. Fortunatly my retailer worked with me even though the set was roughly 2 and a half months old, and gave me credit against the purchase of an SXRD. I am not trying to be bitter here, I just want people to understand what they may be signing up for, and understand that in the end, for the most part you get what you pay for, and the Toshiba is cheap for a reason.
