You can just buy the bulb and replace the e4xisting lamp in the housing but make sure you wear rubber gloves as you do NOT want to get the oil from your skin on the lamp. That could blow the new lamp much sooner.

(Power light goes red) I removed the bulb and the insides are broken up, but I searched for a replacement and they go for about $100. I wanted to make sure it sounded like only the lamp was broke and not something else before I invest too much money into the tv.
If the inside of the lamp is broken then it is almost definitely just the lamp needs replacing.

Default Thanks to Everyone!

I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you to anyone that provided information on this Forum and Thread. I went through the steps outlined a few times and everything eventually worked.

Thanks again.

Well gang, my story is similar but with a twist. Replaced the bulb (actually took the tray out and took it to a shop and they installed a new one for me). TV started up like a gem.

However, within hours my TV started losing it's sound (cracking at best). I noticed this happening right before it died the first time. There is also a small high pitched sound coming from the TV as well. This happened for about an hour, then back to the red lights.

This seems very odd because the lamp seemed to have worked successfully, however, the TV seemed to reject it or something of that nature. Someone else mentioned a ballast or the motherboard. We had blackouts in our apartment building a few months that could have triggered this.

Any thoughts are much appreciated.

The high pitched sound is normally what happens when the color wheel is going/gone. That would make your TV shut down as well. I would say that is the likely cause now.

Talking Lamps are delivered in 2 days from DLPlampsource.com

I came across this site when my LG RU-44SZ61D went blank after noticing a yellow light on the front for about 6 months. I figured out the lamp needed to be replaced. The instructions laid out on this site seemed easy enough so I started hunting for a lamp to replace the expired one.
The lamp part number is LG Electronics/Zenith #6912B22002C.
I found that DLP Lampsource not ony had my lamp in-stock, they sold it for $179.00 and had it delivered to me FREE in ONLY 2 days after I ordered it. The staff was great. I had questions which were answered promptly via email and there was a 30 day return policy. I FEEL STRONGLY THAT THIS COMPANY IS THE WAY TO GO!!!
I replaced the bulb in only 10 minutes with a simple magnetic tip phillips head screwdriver. GOOD LUCK!!!

Grace you mention a site in your posting, but what site and what link?. I have an LG 52SZ8R ZA still showing an orange light even after I have changed the bulb and still no picture, a little concerned. TV turns itself off after 15 secs or so.

Sounds like it could be a thermal warning. Check which Indicator is actually lighting up, if it's the Temperature Indicator .....

I am a new member so please bear with me. I have owned my LG 52" DLP for 5 years. During that time I have replaced two bulbs. Both times by a Best Buy technician. I am experiencing a problem with my TV that may or may not be the bulb so I need your input. I am hoping to avoid paying to bring a technician to my house. As an Army retiree, I would like to solve this problem on my own and save the money if possible.

First, I have not had a yellow light to indicate a deteriorating bulb. My symptom has been more and more trys to start the TV. At first, it took 3-4 trys to start it. Each time that it failed, the bulb light flashed red. The last time that it started, it took almost 20 tries with the same flashing red light for the bulb. Today, it would not start after 30 trys. When it did work, the picture seemed fine.

Has anyone experienced this problem? Is it the bulb or something else? Your thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Default Repacing the DLP Lamp RU52SZ51D

As mentioned earlier in this forum. It is recommended by LG you have an authorized TV repair man replace the lamp and at the same time he has a little computer gadget he can reset your indicator light back to green. You cannot buy the gadget since only TV repairmen have access to it.
It is not necessary to reset the indicator light. I have replaced the lamp twice so far and didn't bother resetting the the indicator light. It is relatively easy to do and when the picture starts to lose its brightness I know I am getting close to needing to replace it.

Hi everyone, want to say thanks for the help that was here to replace the lamp. But I still have a problem with the tv and was wondering if anyone could help out. I bought the lamp and replaced it and reset the timer on it. It turned on and worked fine but the picture isnt as clear as it used to be and when i turned it on the next day the tv shut itself off after 10 minutes or so, so I started it again and it did the same thing. Its a LG RU52sz51d. Anyone point me in a direction to try to figure out whats wrong?
