The OP's description is wrong, as it was in the other thread that he started on this same model. The set he is asking about is the same Sony Grand Wega that you have. The screen size (50") and 3LCD label and date of manufacture (specified in the other thread) only apply to that model. It is not a Bravia because a) the largest Bravia is 40" and b) the Bravia is a direct view LCD set, so the 3LCD label does not apply. (In other words, there is no such thing as a 50" 3LCD Bravia).

Troymouni: Your question was answered in the other thread. The set you are considering (Sony Grand Wega KDFE50A10) is definitely a 720p set. rjs281's reply should answer your question about how the set works with the 360.

@Brian0

the Sony KDF-E50A11E 3-LCD Rear Projection TV is a Bravia.
Look at those links (Italian: European market):

http://www.eprice.it/default.aspx?sku=933290

http://www.sony.it/view/ShowProduct....+Projection+TV

(in last one see the bottom of page).

Bravia is not about the format or size of TV sets, but is the
technology of the new LCD microchips by Sony.

They say this technology increases color quality and image brightness and brilliance. Also contrast should be superior if compared to other LCDs sets.

By the way i saw Sony Bravia LCD sets in action and they look pretty good with DVD or if compared with other LCDs.
But the matter is the refresh rate of the LCD, I play xbox 360 and this count to me, a lot.
Is very hard to find a reseller that lets you try XBOX 360 on big Bravia tv sets, so i have lots of doubts on buying a Sony bravia for myself.

In fact i'm interested in a Sony KDF-E50A11E 3-LCD Rear projection TV, anyone had experiences with this set and xbox 360 / HDTV ?

How is the refresh rate? (they say 8ms but thats about Black/white to White/black trasiction), you notice some ghost effect or similar bad visual effects?

Any suggestion / comment would be really appreciated

bye

Giuseppe

The A10 is set aside by the incoporation of the automatic iris to improve black level. This sets it apart from others like the A20 (similar to the older WE, WF, XS model).

The very latest model, E2000, also rear projection, appears to incorporate all the latest developments in the 3LCD line including the iris.

The Bravia's are flat panel LCD, not rear projection.

@Troymouni

Hi m8, perhaps you could help me in making the choice...
I'm interested in the Sony KDF E50A11E (should be the model after yours).
I have an xbox360 and i fear blurring or trailing effects on LCDs when playing at it in HD, or when i see sports or fast motion in some movie scenes.

Did you noticed any of this effects on your 3-LCD rear tv?
You say it looks unreal with 360, and i believe u, but is it unreal also in
fast movements or only playing static scene games? ;-)

Your help in deciding could be crucial to me, thank you very much m8.

Maybe in Italy, amigo, but in the USA Bravia is this:

Look at those links (Italian: European market):
I know, but the OP did not indicate that he/she lived in Europe or that he/she was talking about a european model until well after my previous posts on the topic were made.

The vast majority of posters on this forum are asking/commenting on US (or Canadian) models. If a poster from Europe fails to indicate his/her location or properly identify the models, then he/she is almost certainly going to receive answers about North American models rather than the ones to which he/she is actually referring.

In North America the "Bravia" name is used exclusively for direct-view LCD sets with screen sizes 26" or greater and it has only been used since 2005. The 3LCD Rear Projectiion sets are known as Grand Wegas, and have been since they were first introduced in 2001.
.

Yes, and with all due respect, please do not confuse us. Just keeping track of models in North America is confusing enough!

@daleb

daleb, I'd like to ask if you use xbox 360 on your Sony KDF-55WF655 that should be an LCD projection.
If so did you notice any brurring or trailing effects during gameplay or fast movie scenes?

Apparently, the Sony Italian market includes rear projection into the Bravia line. In the USA, Bravia is the Sony brand for flat panel LCD direct view TVs which max out at 40".
