Default Importantant Information for 2005 Toshiba Owners

Product Resource: Information for Owners of 2005 DLP® Televisions

To ensure the satisfaction of our customers and to maintain the integrity and quality of our products, Toshiba America Consumer Products, L.L.C. is issuing an important product update.

Toshiba is committed to customer service and to continuously improving the quality of its products. It has come to our attention that the lamp life of some lamps in a limited number of 2005 DLP television models and serial number ranges may be less than our expectation. As part of our ongoing commitment to customer service, Toshiba is extending the warranty on the originally-installed lamp in those particular 2005 DLP television models and serial number ranges for one additional year (for a total warranty period of two years for the originally-installed lamp) to enable customers with those televisions to obtain a new and improved lamp free of charge if the originally-installed lamp fails. If you own one of the DLP television models listed below, please enter your serial number in the box below to determine if your particular DLP television qualifies for this extended warranty. The serial number can be located on the back panel of the television. Be assured that Toshiba DLP televisions are of the highest quality and this update regards a limited issue.

This is at the very least the first news of TOSH's acceptence that there is ,in fact now, a proven, pinpointed, number (?) of inferior ,not up to their specs. lamps. It took a while to get enough data for them to do JUST THIS. I have no reason to believe if this is not adequate, they will do something else.Remember, 195 series sets have not been out that long.

Default Importantant Information for 2005 Toshiba Own

enmoco: That sounds like good news for us Toshiba owners (56MX195) and others. However it still doesn't address what they will do if the replacement bulb that we got in the 3rd month of ownership, blows in another 3 or 4 months. Your report only states they will extend the warranty until 2 yrs for "THE ORIGINAL BULB". What will happen if the replacement bulb blows before the end of that warranty period? Unless the replacement bulbs they sent & we are now using, are better quality then the original ones, we will be S O L long before the 2 year period they gratiously gave us....

If you already have a replacement bulb, you do not qualify for the extra year, but,you already have the new bulb. This is for people who don't have the new bulb. You are covered for one year.Thats all Tosh owed anybody to start out.The key word to all of this is IF.Read it again and really take time to understand what is being proposed.

They know the ORIGINAL bulb probably won't last.Thats the object of all this.IF and WHEN the suspected old bulb quits, their giving those an extra year to NOT HAVE TO PAY for the "Newer" bulb.If this issue never arose they were on the hook for 1 year only.

The object of this is to insure all get the new lamp. Not just those that have already blown. They are supposed to already have the new bulb.Remember, the serial # run?The key word is IF it blows. We all know its going to fail, it gives an extra year to get a free "new" bulb.If you have a bad bulb.If it doesn't fail, then, it was one helluva good bulb.

Thanks for the above post. My replacement lamp in is the mail but I did go to the linked site. Punched in my S/N and said I was qualified for the extension. We'll have to look again later to see if there is any update on the status of my qualification.

I'm going to take a close look at the replacement and see if there is any noticable difference.

Extended warranty includes lamps?
I just got my tv up and running again last week. Next time when I see the symptoms of a lamp failure; I'll be calling before it blows. Took almost a week to get here for me.

through sears it includes anything that may go wrong with the tv..it doesn't specify how many or how few lamps they will replace..it just gives me one free cleaning per year and full protection for 4 years..

Did you check @ Tosh's website to see if you had one of the "old" lamps?
