enmoco:

He may have posted in the wrong thread but he WAS offering something to think about with all recent vintage Toshiba DLPs. I saw nothing wrong in his post except it might have been better in another thread. I thought it had some relevance to your thread when I read it here. I do not think he was "bashing" Toshiba, but I did read the concern he has after what he has experienced with HIS Toshiba.

I feel for BOTH OF YOU in regard to your problems with the Toshiba lamps, and although all mfg seem to have had some issues with lamps in their DLP/LCD RPTVs Toshibas seems to be lasting the longest. I almost bought a Toshiba DLP and probably would have if the models out in 2004/2005 years didn't have the speakers on the sides of the screen. I have owned several Toshiba TVs and always loved the PQ. There before the grace of God it could have been me in the same position going weeks without an expensive HDTV every time the lamp goes after less than 25% of it's rated life.

Luckily I bought an RCA DLP which still has the original lamp after over 7,500 hours and still going strong. Many people attack the RCA HDTVs, but I have had ZERO problems with it. Maybe it is because Infocus makes the most important/expensive part (Light Engine) for RCA, but it has been great for me.

Sounds to me like the new warranty applys for the replacement bulb too.

Well, at least the brand bashing has let up.

So it looks like I'll have a spare bulb on hand in case the replacement blows.

Thanks Toshiba for stepping up to the plate and taking care of us!
Posted earlier today at another site. I trust this will be well received.

Glad to see that Toshiba is trying to make good on the problem. Toshiba used to make a great product and I have purchased many of them in the past but will think twice until I see how this resolves itself. I have an RCA DLP, but I may consider one of the 1080p Toshibas as a 2nd one next year. Hopefully they will prove to me by then that they have their house back in order.

Again, glad to see that they are finally going to bat for their customers.

Good luck Toshiba owners!

I just got the same letter, confirming they are going to send out a new improved bulb, free of charge, and that i should use it as a spare, for when the current one fails. that is so cool. i was going to buy one for 350.00 for that exact reason.
thanks toshiba,
very happy with my 62hm195!

Mine failed after 3 months and was replaced, however, I got the letter, too. I don't have it in front of me, but it was clear that they knew I had the bulb replaced AND they would still be sending me a spare.

Edit: Model, 62HM195

Your replacement lamp must have been an "early" build as well. Don't remember the date on your replacement lamp,do you? Thanks

I believe their only sending spares to those who had an early failure AND an earlier model replacement lamp.
Sort of a gift for the inconvenience of early failure and having to wait for a replacement, then being told your replacement is a "bad" one as well. For us with what appears to be the old lamp and NO replacement yet,we just get an extra year of warranty.Good luck to all

It was near the end of January that I got the Lamp. Took the usual two weeks to arrive.

I'll get the exact date once I'm back in town later this week.
