Default HLR-5667W: 1 HDMI but need 2....HDMI signal splitter good???

Hey guys, thanks for your help on my previous posts, just bought the Samsung HLR-5667W 56" DLP model @ Best Buy and will be delivered on 2/2. My question is that this model has 1 HDMI on the back of the TV but I need two, one for my DVD player and one for my Motorola HD cable box from Comcast.

Best Buy has an HDMI signal splitter were you can just switch a button to cable or DVD for like $130 . My question is, will I lose my HD signal strength from splitting the two HDMI cables like I would when using a cable splitter for two TV's?

My other question is when I hook up my surround sound speakers (Klipsch Synergy III F-2) using the digital optical cable to my receiver (Pioneer VSX-1015TX) will I get audio lag to the TV? I've read that if I have this problem to first run all the audio to the television then re-route it to the receiver will help with audio lag? It also says that progressive scan TV's prevents audio lag. Any of you Techies heard of this or how I can prevent it????

Much help is needed.

There should be no degrade in signal quality. My neighbor bought a switcher so for fun we played around with it (someone at a high end shop told him not to run video through any audio device so he didn't want to use receiver as switcher). But we did play around to see if there was any discernable difference between running both his DVD and Cable box into a splitter, into his Receiver, and also with each seperately plugged into HDMI. We didn't notice any difference between his splitter and running direct into his TV. He only has 1 HDMI input on his TV so we had to keep switching back and forth when testing the single input, but this only took about 20 seconds between. We did notice the picture was a little "buggy" when run through his receiver, but we figured that was mostly because we couldn't get the receiver end plugged in all the way due to location issues, and we didn't feel like unhooking everything from his receiver to be able to pull it out of it's nook. So you should be ok with a splitter. I wish I could tell you which brand it was, but I can't recall. If I remember, I'll edit and post below.

With reference to camdogg's comments, if you get one, make sure you can return it. I have to believe the perfromance would be the equal of what any HDMI receiver is capable of....the Geffen were always rated highly, but when they came out no one else had a remote switcher.
They may now be on the losing end unless they lower their prices, or it is demonstrated the less expensive switches really are inferior.
Reliability is another factor, and will likely require time to prove that out.

Hey guys....thanks for the info. Anyone experience any audio lag when using the digital optical cable from cable box to receiver. I heard that DLP models have this issue, ecspecially the samsung's. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with the audio lag on the Samsung models.

Sorry for posting this in this section instead of the audio (looking for quick replies, TV being delivered 2morrow)
