Ballast, or Lamp and white dots Mitsu DLP WD-65733

Please forgive me if i am out of line.....

We have a Mitsu. WD-65733 and have for many years, about 6 months ago I had to replace the Bulb. I bought a new bulb and followed every direction to the letter during replacement. The orignal lasted over 5 years, I know because my extended warranty had expired.

About 3 weeks ago the set acted as if the bulb had gone out again... I reseated the bulb. That didn't solve the issue so I contacted the Bulb manufactor and explained my problem. They suggested I try unplugging and pressing the system reset button in the front control panel. That seemed to work, we were back to watching TV..... I suspected that something else would soon arise...

A few nights ago I noticed a white dot on the screen and begin trying to find the cause....I was going to call Mitsu on Monday to discuss as this forum suggested.... Tonight however.... The TV would not ignite the buld again, and the red bulb light appeared....

I tried reseating the bulb, and unplugging the set....the system reset button and it will not come on.....interestingly enough after two times through my trouble shooting when I attempt to start the tv it simply tries to run the start up sequence a couple of times( i can hear the fan or mirror motor spin up and then down) and shuts down with no red bulb light....

My question or questions would be, would the same cause for the white dot cause all of these issues?

Ok so I have located a service manual for my TV, and ran through the bulb checks, everything in the manual, the codes the tv throws point to a bad bulb....however I replaced a bulb 6 months ago, and based on my forum searchs the suggestion is the ballast is bad.....and typically fails a short time after bulb replacement..

So it looks like I am going to buy the ballast found one for about 80 dollars with tax and shipping......

Replaced the ballast, quick and easy task really.......... Bulb would still not light... So I replaced the bulb as I thought the real problem was... Now eveything great..... Except my single white dot has grown to 15 in less than a week.

Time to get on the phone to Mitsubishi, see if they will help with a DLP chip...If not ShopJimmy has them for about 160.00
