I spoke with a friend of mine that works for Tweeter, he gave this tv great reviews. They are HD2+ chipset. They will have a 60 inch available as well but no dates as yet. Anyone else seen it?

I thought this set was best heads up with mits 52525 and sam HLP5063W. My problem is with reviews........can't find any. I thought maybe this spoke of it's quality or is this model to new? Any insight would be great.

I will soon be taking delivery of the Panasonic PT50DL54 DLP set (I should have it delivered by mid-week). I'd been considering a new set, and had my heart set on the Sony (42 or 50") Grand Wega LCDs (depth, $$, design). Was at Best Buy and wanted to check out the LG DLPs that I'd been reading about. While there, I noticed that a Mitsubishi rep was in the store, 'answering' questions about their new DLP sets. Long story short, I learned more about the displays reading the spec tags than the BB and Mits rep could have told me.
Went over to Magnolia and was very impressed with the salesperson I spoke with. After a few questions from him, we decided that the LCD would be a mistake for my situation (the room the display is going in is full of ambient light). He pointed me in the direction of the DLPs on display and gave me a few minutes to give them a look. Saw the 'older' and newer Samsung DLPs (black and silver bottoms, pedistal), new Mitsubishi DLPs (looked like they had a very heavy green push... not good ) and the Panasonic. From what I saw, the Samsung 'pedistal' set and the Panasonic 50DL54 were the best looking sets in the store (aside from one of the Fujitsu plasma sets). Bright picture, realistic colors. After asking a few more questions for the salesperson, I was pretty much sold on the Panasonic. What made me decided between the two? Asthetics and price. The Samsung was about $700 more, and the design was not all that system 'friendly' (where the heck are you supposed to put your components?) Supposedly, Samsung is coming out with a 'stand-version' of the pedistal set (same specs but table-top design with optional matching stand), but it isn't available yet. For the money, I don't think the Panasonic can be beat. They've always made beautiful TVs but are always overlooked (compared to Sony, Toshiba, etc.). |

Does the Panasonic use gray or black virtical bars on the side of a 4:3 standard broadcast (480i)? Thanks. |
