Default White Dot On Screen of My Mitsubishi DLP 65833

Noticed a white dot on my Mitsubishi 65833 DLP and Googled it and thankfully found this forum. I went and found my purchase receipts which showed I purchased the t.v. in Dec of 07. Fortunately I also purchased an additional 4 year warranty. I called customer service told them I have a white dot on my screen and found out that it is a common problem via Google and that it was most likely the DLP Chip. They agreed and scheduled a service call for this Thursday and they will bring the part with them. So far so good, customer service has been excellent . I will post the result of the repair. Thanks everyone for the info you guys provided.

Just had the service folks come out and replace my DLP Chip. t.v. looks better than new with the newer chip No more white dot on the screen. So happy I had the extended warranty. From initial call to Mitsubishi, to having repair completed about 48 hrs.

Maybe someone could help me here. I have a Mitsubishi Ws-55511 and it has the blinking green light syndrome. I have replaced the capacitors once before and fixed the problem. Now same problem again. Changed capacitors but now it still blinks. Not sure where or what to check from here. Any ideas from anyone would be helpful.

Hi guys, just wanted to add that I have a 73 inch WD73735 and it has 4 white dots. For about a month only one appeared, no it has 4. I called Mitsubishi today and they agreed to pay for the part and I pay the $200 service fee. This is ok by me since the TV was purchased in 2008 and not under warranty.

White and black dot issue for me as well
I have a Mitsubishi WD-Y577 model and the TV is no longer under warranty
Called 800-332-2119. Told the rep the issue with the TV and they offered to pay for the replacement part and I would pay for the labor charge ($200).

Just to update I had local installer (Plano Tx ) called in after 7 days that they would come by and install the chip. I paid the labor. The chip just got installed and everything works just fine. The installer were very good and did the job in no time. Hopefully the TV will give many more years after spending so much money to buy just over four years ago

Default Mitsubishi DLP white spots

Mitsubishi WD 65737 purchased exactly 3 years ago today for a VACATION home. We arrived for the summer and within a week we had one white spot. Three weeks later we have 22 spots. Bought from BEST Buy with extended warranty, so we have one year to go. Called them today. Their scheduling location was down, so have to call back in 3 hours. Your many comments have been very helpful in determining that this is a real issue. Thanks for your help and we are sure glad we found this forum. Will let you know what happes.

Default mitsubishi dlp white spot update

Called Best Buy today - to use the extended warranty. They told me to call back because their system was down. Well, it wasn't an excuse. The storm in VA knocked out their methods of communiation. Long story short - a local service company should be contacting us early next week. Will post when I know more.

Default Should I buy a new Mits WD-73740?

She said that Mitsubishi would send the part of to a repair organization near me but that I would need to pay the labor - $200.
In a few days I got a call from Norman's and set up an appointment. A very knowledgable rep came out and fixed the set. He also told me a lot about my set and other televisons. I pumped him for information.
My TV looks like a brand new set.
Did the customer rep or the service rep say anything about the new DLP models having this isssue? I am thinking about replacing my 10 year-old 65" Mits rear projection TV with DLP, but this thread has me scared.

Smile My experience with Mitsubishi and the Big Screen Store was Super

My experience with Mitsubishi and the Big Screen Store was excellent. In fact, it couldn't have been better.

Two weeks ago, I noticed a single white dot in the upper right hand corner of my 65 inch Mitsubishi I'd purchased from the Big Screen store about 5 years ago. I had no issues with the TV until then.

I googled the problem and discovered this forum. After reading the negative reports about Mitsubishi, with a sinking feeling in my stomach, I called the Big Screen Store in Tysons Corner, Va.

I was pleasantly surprised that they answered the phone although it was 8 pm and I was event more surprised that the salesman who answered the phone was Chris, the guy who had sold me the unit years ago.

I explained the issue to Chris and he quickly informed me that yes, there had been problems but that they had a special relationship with Mitsubishi support and that they would expedite the repair, and take care of it, even though the extended warranty had probably expired.

He looked up my records, and as it turned out, the warranty would have expired about 3 weeks from my call.

Chris took my information and told me that Mitsubishi would call first thing in the morning. Doubtfully, I hung up.

However, I got a call almost exactly at 9am the following morning. The support rep asked a few questions and confirmed that it was probably the light engine. He promised that an authorized service center would call that day.

And I got the call from Becky at the Baltimore office as promised, around 1 pm that same afternoon. Again, a few questions from the tech, and they confirmed the diagnosis and said that they would order the part.

I got a call later that day fom Mitsubishi, to ensure that the service center had followed-up.

The service center called the next day to let me know the part had been ordered. They called again the next week to let me know that the part had arrived and to schedule the service call.

And again, Mitsubishi called to followup and make sure the part had arrived and the call scheduled.

Got a call from the service center yesterday, reminding me of the appointment. This afternoon, a few minutes after noon, the repairman called to let me know he was on the way.

The gentlemen repaired and re-installed the engine in about a half hour and then stayed another 20 minutes or so to make sure that the engine was working properly - it did.

The tech wasn't gone 20 minutes before his office called to make sure I was satisfied.

Competitors should take note. The communication among all parties was fantastic. Everyone was taking responsibility to make sure the customer was satisfied.

BTW, the tech told me the replacement part was a new design and that it wasn't likely that the spots would appear again anytime soon.

I couldn't be happier with the Big Screen store or Mitsubishi. I'm not affiliated with any of them in any way. I just wanted to balance the negative reports with a positive report.

I was told that they did have problems a few years ago but they obviously have correct them.

So, kudos to Chris and Brian at the Big Screen Store and to the entire Mitsubishi team.

I don't know if the forum has poblems with shameless plugs but I'm giving everyone a thumbs-up.

My WD-Y77 from 2007 started exhibiting the white dot issues this week. I called Mitsubishi and took advantage of their $200 offer for repair. If it hadn't been for this thread I wouldn't even have thought to call them, which seems pretty obvious now that I think about it.

Thanks
