I purchased a new Sony LCD HD TV and the HD is terrific. However, I have noticed that the conventional 480i programing is a bit fussy compared to my other TVs in the house. I am not sure if I should be changing the setting on the TV when I watch the conventional programing. I have the local channels from an antenna and they all come in HD and I have Directv. Regardless of the source the conventional 480i programing is fussier than my conventional tube TVs in my house. Any idea on what I should do.

Are you talking about only your DirecTV SD images on your LCD tv being fuzzy? Are you running your video thru a A/V receiver?

No, the video is sent directly to the TV through a DVI/HDMI cable. It's not the best set up I think because the Directv HD receiver came with DVI cable and I purchased a DVI/HDMI adapter to connect to my sony TV. Other standard signals, say the one off my off air antenna, are also fussy so I'm not sure it's this connection necessarily from my Directv receiver.

Standard def IS fuzzy compared to HDTV! That's why we're changing standards... SD doesn't have enough detail in the signal for a large screen. Your analog TVs look sharper because they're smaller - same number of source pixels on a 19" analog or a 55" digital.
