After reading these forums, and going to at least 20 different retailers, reading other websites and reviews, etc, I finally decided that the LCD's, DLP's and even JVC D-ILA all looked decent in HDTV. The SD display was my concern. I finally got ABC Warehouse to show me regular SD ESPN on all the sets so I could compare. I decided to go with the Samsung HLR6167W and get the best deal. It has the best features and jack-pack of any I could find as well. The picture was as good or better than anything but the Samsung 1080p, which was nearly identical, since the source was the same.
ABC's sticker said "compare @ $3899" and was "on sale" for $3497. They were of course offering a Gift Card for $350 with purchase as well. This is the exact same deal as Best Buy, Circuit City, and HH Gregg. While @ ABC, I began to move toward the door, after having spoke with the manager. The ABC Manager offered to convert the Gift Card to cash, then lower the price even further, to $2997. I was still reluctant to get "locked in" without at least checking the online prices. He agreed to let me put $500 down to hold the price, then I could return and pay the balance when I picked it up, or just cancel if I changed my mind. I then used all available internet search engines to find the best price. It was $2248 + 240 shipping = $2488. However, that was not exactly a reputable dealer. I found that Crutchfield, Onecall, and possibly Abe's of Maine were the highest rated, and I was skeptical of buying this online anyway. I called Samsung and asked several questions regarding exactly what chip was in it anyway, and I got the name and number of the only local Authorized Service Center. I called and spoke with him, and even though they don't sell any TV's or warranties, he was happy to talk to me for 20 minutes about what decision to make. That technician reiterated what everyone in this forum says, "get the extended warranty, even though you never buy them any other time". He also specifically told me to get the 5 year from ABC, because they have one of the few warranties that covers the Lamp. I returned to ABC and immediately told the manager I was going to have to cancel the deal. I just could not bring myself to pay almost $800 for the privelege of buying local. I told him that I really wanted to, but not at that price. Of course, he still wanted the sale, and went to work, "seeing what he could do". After several levels of negotiations with him, the ABC Warehouse manager gave me the HLR6167W for $2478, which is $10 less than the cheapest place I could find it on the internet (w/ shipping). My end of the bargain was buying the 5 year warranty for $399, which gives him $40 in his pocket. I will be picking it up on Wednesday, and hopefully when I hook it up and watch, I will get the "DEAL" that I think I did. The moral of the story, no price is fixed......

Cinskeep: I am looking at both the Samsung HLR6167W and Samsung HLR6168W sets. Did you get yours up and running yet? Are you satisfied with the picture quality?
