My 50V500A has a menu button on the TV's front panel. Use it and the channel up and down buttons to select the "ASPECT" option. Once there, you can change the aspect back to a non-zoom selection.

If you don't have these options, then you'll simply have to get the remote for this TV, or a suitable universal.

Sorry, can't help with the computer problem.

Will the "Magic Focus" button on the front panel work? If it's stuck on manual mode the auto focus feature will not work.

Can the TV guy fix it?

I think your focus problem could also be a resolution setting on your computer.

The aspect problem is a separate issue. You can't resolve it until you get the remote or an acceptable substitute.

Unless you got this TV for free, it's a bad deal.

Did the "tv guy" focus each gun manually before fine tuning with the focus block?

Did he utilize the service menu to re-align the convergence to a properly set-up green gun?

Do you have the service manual for the display and are you willing to read up and do some of this yourself?

Moving one of these displays can wreak havoc on convergence. Also, I'd guess that the guns may be in need of a good cleaning. The focus issue could also be attributed to the glycol becoming cloudy, thus also contributing to the "hazy" anomaly.

All of these things can be tried before you start throwing good money at it and may well prove worthwhile. I've seen sets with 1/8th inch or so of dust on the top of the lenses themselves. Once cleaned....new image!

The red tube will not focus at all and yes he tried to adjust the focus. He switched the red and green and noticed the green could not be adjusted.

I had already used the magic focus in manual mode to lineup the colors (took an hour)

I donot have a service manual or I would have tried all this my self. If you can give me a link that would be great.
