Default Grand Wega 60" screen problem

Hi guys, hope you can help me with this?

I've got a four year old 60" Grand Wega (KF-WS60). I replaced the lamp about 12 months ago and all has been fine. A couple of weeks ago the screen developed a small blue tinge over the right hand bottom corner which is now getting bigger.

Any ideas?

cheers

You are amongst many with a faulty optical block. Check out my Sony optical block problem web site for additional information.

That doesn't sound good. Mine was purchased June 2005 but I get the impression it might have been an older model going by the years/model numbers you've posted. Mine is definitely KF-WS60. I'll call Sony@Oz in the morning.

I had a similar warranty problem with my Sony DSC717 camera and that was an 'extended' situation - but was happy with the outcome.

Thanks for the link.

cheers

Hi, just to reinforce splinke comment, let me explain how that technology works. The light of the lamp is directed through mirrors that direct the lamp to the LCD chips. These chips are blue, green and red and they are like tiny screens that blend together to create the image and colors .In case you don't get your tv fixed by sony you can find the light engine at at a very good price.Good luck and God bless you!

Sigh...I had hoped that Discount-Merchant had stopped these deceptive advertising techniques. They have a history of setting up multiple accounts in forums like this, then pretending to be in need of help, then helping each other out, and then confirming what great service they received. The truth is that Discount-Merchant (also doing business as MI Technologies, MIT, and Modimplant) has a Better Business Bureau rating of "F" on their scale of "A+" to "F".
