Exclamation Samsung DLP HLR5667w 56" tv won't turn on! Please Help!

Hi,
I have a 3 year old Samsung DLP HLR5667w 56" tv that is currently out of commission. Before it was working properly, but one day all the sudden, it stop working. When I tried to turn the tv on, the indication light "lamp" will blink for 30 seconds and then it just shut off the tv. While the indicator light was blinking, I took look at the rear of the tv set, and I saw the actual lamp was light up. There wasn't any noise or high pitch sound when I tried to turn it on. I have called around for repair, they all cost about a $100 bucks just to come out and make an estimate, then several hundred dollars after that, depends on the parts and labor. Could anyone give me advise on my tv issue. I just want to get a more clear of idea on the issue, so I can have an expectation and call for repair. Thanks.

If the indication that your bulb is dead came on, it might still be the bulb if you haven't replaced it in 3 years. Buy one from a place where you can return it if it doesn't fix the problem and put the new one in. I think that is what you need to do.

You can also pull the current bulb and look at the color wheel to see if it has shattered, in case that is the problem.

If it's not a shattered color wheel, you can try a new bulb and return the bulb if it still doesn't work.

Check 1. color wheel, OK? then 2. replace bulb.

Default Thanks you ClearDay

Now, I am able to turn the tv on without any problem. It tuns on just like it was new. However, the tv screen turns greenish with checker pattern. I thought it might be the color wheel, but when I was in "PIP" mode or "Picture In Picture" mode, the little screen on the bottom right corner is perfectly fine, while the big screen is still greenish.
Also, when I press the "Menu" bottom, the menu pop up fine and clear, but the background tv screen is still greenish.
Not sure what is going on here, please help, thanks a bunch.

Hi,It sounds like the dmd is bad .This is how the DMD works: http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/dlp1.htm Its basically a chip composed of 2 million microscopic pixels that create the image.Since the DMD is bad that's why you get those checker pattern because the pixels are not working properly. You can find your dmd in samsungparts.com ebay or Good luck and God bless you!

Hey, not to complicate things, but I had a similar issue with my 46" same model as yours. My greenish haze problem started when I would use my PS3 throught the HDMI cable. Eventually it started when wathcing TV through the COAX input through a digital box. Many people say many things like DMD board or Digital board, sure confussed me. Anyway, the pattern I found was many with the same issue had performed a seating operation on there DNIe chip that is located on the Digital board using a machine screw and a nut. I know sounds crazy, but I was willing to try anything at that point. It surely solved my problem and know my TV works like new.
