Default sony kdf55e2000 picture problem

Hi,
I replaced the bulb in the tv and noticed a red bar across the top of the picture. It is not a solid red line ie it's transparent but noticeable. any thoughts?

Nevermind. Now that I've had a chance to look at previous posts this is looking like an optical block problem.
One last question.... Does Sony let the consumer replace that part if they ae a tech and is this a board replacement or component level ?

No, they have to send an authorized technician to do the job...

Sony has a warranty extension on your model that should fully cover the replacement by a local Sony-authorized technician. There is an alert on Sony's support web site. Call Customer Service. Also, please see my informational web site on Sony optical block problems for additional information.

Hi,it seems you are having a common light engine problem.Basically your tv uses 3 lcd chips which are blue, green and red and they blend together to create the pictures and colors. When you get a red lines across the tv that will be a major indication that the light engine is bad. You can find it here: http://www.discount-merchant.com/SearchResults.asp?Search=55%221026221? Good luck and God bless you!

Sigh...I had hoped that Discount-Merchant had stopped these deceptive advertising techniques. They have a history of setting up multiple accounts in forums like this, then pretending to be in need of help, then helping each other out, and then confirming what great service they received. The truth is that Discount-Merchant (also doing business as MI Technologies, MIT, and Modimplant) has a Better Business Bureau rating of "F" on their scale of "A+" to "F".

I have had many dealings with them, all were professional and they delivered what was promised. That is more than I can say of many e-tailers.
