I've found a Sanyo PLV-Z5 (sorry not allowed to post links yet) with a new lamp and entirely in great condition (I've seen pictures) for 300$ Canadian. I'm in Canada myself. Is that a fair price for this device? No, I don't need more than what it does. A friend has one and for my purposes it is perfect. Anything I need to look out for when buying a projector used like this?

Thanks!

Imo that is a good price on an excellent projector when released. Check projector central to make sure the throw distance will work for you. Check for uniformity and that all inputs work and that the exhaust fan work well.

A few questions for you since you seem well versed in this...
1. How off a perfectly perpendicular line from the screen can the projector be placed? Is this the kind of thing where at this price point, you're stuck having to leave it no farther than 5 degrees off center or can those things be adjusted in all projectors.
2. What tests can be run, video or slides to display, settings menu timers or hours-in-use counts, other things I can ask the person to check for me that anyone could report on even if they have no in-depth knowledge that could give me more of a sense of the quality of the machine. Just exploring to see if there's any possibility that this is a Sanyo in perfect condition cared for delicately and might be in great shape.
The person with the Sanyo lives nearby, therefore what I'm thinking is that they'll probably let me see it in action because my conversations with them have been perfectly open and direct thus far. I'd share the link if I could.
Thank you!!
