I fear I got ripped off this weekend big time. The lamp in my Mitsubishi was growing dark, so I went on line to look for a replacement. I have done this before but the current one only lasted about 9 months. Prices for an aftermarket, like a Phillips was from $52 - $139. I also looked for local Mitsubishi dealers, figuring I could pick one up and save on shipping. Found a dealer about 25 miles from me. Called them and they had the lamp, asked if just the bulb could be replaced. They said yes. I asked if it would be under $100, the salesman said "most likely".
So, I drive down. The salesman seems knowledgeable, stating that genuine parts last longer are brighter and other good stuff. He checks to make sure he has the bulb. Brings it out in a plain white box. Says they usually charge to replace but he will do it for me free. The cost,$249. I almost fall over. He says it has a one year guarantee. like a fool I say OK. Pay and leave. Once home I check on the Mitsubishi site under parts and find that the lamp, housing and bulb, can be purchased from Mitsubishi for $179. Guess there is a sucker born every minute, and my birthday is soon. |

The "plain white box" scares me, but hope you got an OEM after all that trouble and expense. There are a few online outlets that are pretty good but a lot of online ones to stay away from. Next time check with one of the forums for a good referral and you can probably save some grief. At least you can take this back if it fails.

Are you referring to a DLP rear projection television or a projector that shines onto a movie screen? Model #'s would be helpful so we can make recommendations for the future.

Indeed. You posted on the wrong thread. You have a REAR projection TV, not a FRONT projector ( as is used in a theater ).
