I have an older viewsonic projector that I bought used a month ago. I can hook up my cable box via component cables because my projector has no HDMI port. This is the only way to hook the two up. Anyhow, is it possible to use HDMI from my cable box to my projector via a special HDMI/component cable? I have seen these for sale but didn't know if it would work or not and I didn't want to purchase it if it wouldn't? Any help would be awesome!!!

As I wrote, I am not sure if I can even do it. I get a pretty good picture with component out of box to component in projector. I just didn't know if there was a way to use the HDMI port of the cable box with a projector that does not have an HDMI port. Thanks.

You may be able to get an adapter but the picture won't be any better.

Thanks JKKyler. The picture is actually pretty good, but I didn't know if I could improve it or not.

Adapter no, but a converter... Most likely. But they are pretty expensive. And as Jkkler stated above, it will not make any improvements and may only introduce issues. Many people can't tell the difference between stait component video/VGA and HDMI anyway. So I say stay away. If you need additional component inputs for other devices, you can buy a component video switch.

Thanks for the information BigLoww. I may need to buy one of the component switches so that we can have the cable box and dvd player plugged in at once although I can probably run it through the cable box. Thanks again.
