What is HD?

I've owned an Epson Powerlite Home Cinema 8100 for a few years now. I've been very happy with the picture so far. It is mostly used for movies, gaming, and sports. Located in the basement, ambient light isn't a problem. It projects onto a fixed 97" Seymour AV screen.
So my question is this: Is there value in an upgrade? I'm not at all unhappy with my current setup, but I also am always interested in what improvements have been made in the last few years. I know that the current LCD and LED TVs blow my old Panasonic Plasma out of the water. Just wondering if the same was true for projectors. Anybody know of any projectors that can be had new for around $2500 that would blow my mind? Just curious. Thanks in advance for any info. |

Without actually seeing your projector perform firsthand, it's kind of hard to suggest that an upgrade for $2.5k is worth it. Bottom line...if you're happy with what you have...don't decide to upgrade 'til you've personally seen a PJ demo that blew you away for that cost.
