i have used quite a few services and i like vonage best, there is almost no down time as compared to other services. One suggestion, do not do prepay plans to any company, lot of these small companies could go under and you will loose your money. i have lost my money to one failed company two years ago.

I'd go with skype. Its much cheaper than vonage. One of my friends has vonage and the sound quality is poor and has an echo. He has cable connex.

I use Vonage also and it has worked perfectly. I have not heard good things about the magic jack so you might want to avoid that.

COX here using VOIP, I have no problems, only when everything like cable/internet goes down so does the digital phone. Still need a cell phone handy

Yup they are good. I am using Lingo for quite some time and I must say that they have got good rates and neat features. As per their website and my experience so far Lingo is a good option.
