I read this on and thought it was awesome. Not spam, just saw this on a bikers site I'm part of
.I saw you, hug your purse closer to you in the grocery store line. But, you didnt see me, put an extra $10.00 in the collection outside the store as I walked in. I saw you, pull your child closer when we passed each other on the side walk, But you didn't see me playing Santa at the local Mall. I saw you, change your mind going into the restaurant. But, you didnt see me, attending a meeting to raise money for the hurricane relife. I saw you, roll up your window and shake your head when I rode by. But, you didnt see me, riding behind you when you flicked your cigarette butt out the car window. I saw you, frown at me when I smiled at your children. But, you didn't see me when I took off from work to run toys to the homeless. I saw you, stare at my long hair. But, you didn't see me, and my friends cut Ten inches off for, Locks For Love. I saw you, roll your eyes at our leather jackets and gloves. But, you didn't see me, and my brothers donate our old ones to those that had none. I saw you, look in fright at my tattoos. But, you didn't see me, cry as my children were born and have their name written over my Heart. I saw you, Change lanes while rushing to go somewhere. But, you didn't see me, going home to be with my Family. I saw you, complain about how loud and nosiy our bikes can be. But, you didn't see me, when you were changing the CD and drifted into my lane. I saw you, yelling at your kids in the car. But, you didn't see me, pat my childs hand's, knowing he was safe behind me. I saw you, reading the newspaper or map as you drove down the road. But, you didn't see me, squeeze my wife's leg when she told me to take the next turn. I saw you, race down the road in rain. But, you didn't see me, get soaked to the skin so my son could have the car to go on his date. I saw you, run the yellow light just to save a few minutes of time. But, you didn't see me, trying to turn right. I saw you, cut me off because you needed to be in the lane I was in. But, you didn't see me leave the road. I saw you, waiting impatiently for my friends to pass. But, you didn't see me I wasn't there. I saw you, go home to your family. But, you didn't see me. Because, I died that day you cut me off. I was just a biker. A person with friends and a family. But you didn't see me. Re-send this around in hopes that people will understand the Biker Community. If you don't re-send this, all I can say is it sucks to be you. I hope you never loose someone that rides. EVEN IF YOU DON'T LIKE US, RESPECT OUR RIGHTS TO RIDE WHAT WE CHOOSE AND TAKE A FEW EXTRA SECONDS TO BE SURE WE'RE NOT IN YOUR WAY! |

My son and friends are bikers. Many people have motorcycle blindness and riders need to be aware of that. They don't see bicycles either. I will go on their rides often bringing up the rear in my convertible which keeps cars from tailgating the group. Many car drivers don't realize that a bike can stop much faster than a car. I don't know what the answer is to solve the blindness issue other than trying to be as lit up as possible and be loud.

But, the other stuff about the looks and reactions from people, sorry but you won't get a lot of sympathy from me. If you want to be a wannabe Hell's Angel with the long hair, tatoos, leather and do-rag; riding bikes with straight pipes that rattle the windows for a mile in all directions, all just to show people that "I'm a bad-a$$ biker, so stay outta my way"......to complain about normal people's reactions to you is a bit baffling to me. If you want to look like a Hell's Angel, then you'll have to live with their legacy. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against bikers or their choice of lifestyle, but I just don't "feel their pain" on this issue. I also think that in time, if they keep trying, they can change peoples negative image of bikers. It won't happen overnight. *

The problem of motorcycle blindness has gotten 1000x worse IMHO as cell phone usage and "distracted driving" has increased. I grew up with off-road dirt bikes and then rode streetr bikes in college and the military. After 3 of my friends were nearly hit (1 had to drive off the road into a field to avoid getting run over) I gave up riding on public streets a few years back. Having a child has made me give up several activities due to risk factor not being worth it to me.

^ Shortly I will be installing a Bad Boy Air Horn on my bike, I found them shortly after I found my 12volt TV for the camper
. Its a 12volt air horn with built in compressor, it just needs power. People don't see me when I have my head lights on? ok I can fix that with 180db of noise coming your way. ![]() Quote:
I have been tailgated several times, a quick brake check usually gets people off my ass, run me over that's fine someone will get your plate and I will own your house .The tail car is a good idea, I never thought about that. |

Yeah, nothing like getting squished. BUT it does wake the person up and they back off, sometimes they pass me and flip me off, which I in turn flip them off and shake my head in disgust.

My best friend wiped out 4yrs ago this month on his R1 and died. I still ride, but I've got two kids so I pretty much take it easy and only hop on the highway for a few miles to get to work.
I don't do the biker look, though. Just a normal dude in my slacks, shirt, and buzzcut/fade

You should not be on a bike with an attitude like yours. Sorry, but I take motorcycling deadly serious.
