Default PAYPAL account been hacked

Damn,,,received an e-mail from Paypal today saying that me payment to XXXXX at some yahoo account for $$$.$$ was sent. Then, another e-mail saying that me account had suspicious activity and that me was to log in and okay the payment. Well, needless to say, me didn't log in but called them - HOLY CRAP - good thing me called. Not only was me beer money for the next couple of weeks about to be swilled by some rice crapper in indonesia,,,but they got me bank account # and me credit card #. Both e-mails turned out to be legit from PayPal and got things straight with them,,,whew . Can't get to me bank until Monday morning,,but put all credit card(s) on hold. Thought me stuff was secure,,,but ya just never know. Me guess is that the lass plays some warcraft game,,,and pays through me account. Okay,,,enough of the rant.

Sorry to hear about this. It is just starting to tick me off more and more with all the stealing happening now. I know this always comes when the economy is down, but it is hitting closer to home now more than any other time I remember.

If you good folks have a PayPal account, me urge you to call them and ask for their secure card. It basically works like IKS, the numbers change every 15 seconds, but you will need your assigned access card to make any transactions. Been using Paypal for years and consider it partly my fault for not periodically changing passwords, and going to a 20 digit password. 1234 just don't cut it anymore. Thankfully, Paypal was on top of it, and notified me in a timely manner. The only thing we can take for granted is having good folks to chat with on the HD Forum!!:bowdow n:

And yes, still recommend them. They sent me an e-mail because the transaction looked fishy to their security measures. Which is a lot more than what me can say about CC's. PayPal did me a great service by being on top of the situation, and luckily, me happened to check me e-mail today. Which almost didn't happen. It rained this morning. Every time it rains me komkast goes out. At least it only took them 3 hours to get it back up today. Last week we had a 12 hour outage.

That's part of the reason why I don't link my actual bank or bank card with PPal. I instead resort to manually punching in my screw around credit card everytime I use it.

Good catch though Oblioman, at least they didn't manage to do a lot of harm.

I had mine hacked about a year ago. They quickly charged back the transaction. The person that got screwed was the business that accepted the payment and shipped the purchase. Paypal was great to deal with.

I thought paypal always send you an email when a purchase is made, like the way amazon does...?

That sucks OB. I had my bank account hacked last year and they charged about $1500 of stuff before I noticed it when I logged into my account. They took care of it at the bank and gave me the money back but just knowing that lowlifes out there are doing this pisses me off... I have a paypal account also so I will keep checking it and change my password..Thanks for the heads up OB.

It doesn't really matter. Obama will have all your banking info once Obamacare kicks in.
