Default A Christmas Carol

What's everyones thoughts on Robert Zemeckis doing his version of A Christmas Carol with Jim Carrey? Zemeckis is one of my favorite directors, so I'm looking forward to seeing what his vision will be of the classic Dickinson tale.

That would be Charles Dickens not Emily Dickenson.

Agreed, it's a classic story, but I think it's cool that they'll be releasing a new version in theaters, that way a lot of the younger kids who haven't had a chance to see the film will get to check it out on the big screen. In my opinion Jim Carrey was made for this movie, he'll actually be taking on multiple roles in the film with the help of motion capture technology.

I like George C. Scott's portrayal of Scrooge best.

I kind of like that the footage is over the top. With that motion capture technology it seems that Zemeckis was able to be much more imaginative, since you can do a lot more with with animation than you can with live action. For instance in this new trailer, they have a pretty awesome flying scene that Scrooge goes on with the ghost of Christmas past.

Agreed, something really special about Christmas time, and the holiday time in general. It gets cooler in the air and you spend some relaxing, stress free days with family. That's why I'm glad this one is coming out on Nov. 6th. It's going to be an excellent way to kick off the holiday season, and should be a good one to see with the family. From the looks of it, it seems like people of all ages will be entertained by the film.

When I close my eyes and picture Scrooge, I agree, the image that comes to mind is George C. Scotts face, with the wrinkles and big white facial hair. No question, he wrote the blueprint on how to play Scrooge. I got a kick out of Bill Murray playing the character in the film Scrooged, but obviously that was a much more comedic take. I'm interested to see how Carrey plays the role. I'm sure he's going to be a miserable character, but I think he also add some comedic elements to it. Not in the way that were laughing with him, as if he's telling jokes, but in the way that he's such an over the top grouch, that were laughing at him.

I was surprised to know that there were already remakes for this movie. This is actually the first A Christmas Carol I'll ever see. When were the others released?
