Yes, indeed I have read the 'Conspiracy; I knew, personally, Ms. Kaplan's late husband, Stephen, who wrote the first draft of the book. It was an attempt to debunk George Lutz and his story regarding 112 Ocean Avenue being "haunted;" from there, Mr. Kaplan followed Lutz (who recently died in Las Vegas) around the world on radio shows attempting to debunk him and the Warrens, who were the paranormal investigators on the Amityville case.

For the most part, the Kaplans and some other elements of the media and press, exposed some of the Lutzes claims of paranormal activity as bogus -- but there was something unnatural and unsettling going on at 112 Ocean Avenue. Probably has more to do with the negative aura that was created after the multiple De Feo murders.
