Default Swivel mount for new 46" Samsung LCD LEDs

Getting ready to pull the trigger on a new Samsung UN46B6000 (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....ustomerreviews)

Wanted to see if anyone can recommend a good swivel mount for this? Even though it's a 46", it's so thin (1.2") and light (45lbs) that it should work well with a swivel mount.

Great site, good selection and great prices!

Here's the one I'm thinking about:
http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...seq=1&format=2

Only question I have is whether this would be overkill? The TV i'm getting is only 45 pounds (even though it's a 46"). I'd much prefer to get a smaller mount that gets closer to the wall, but since this mount is set up to handle TVs up to 175lbs, it has alot of "heft" built in.

The mounts for lighter TVs don't seem to be able to take a 46" tv (This TV has 400mmx400mm VESA screw points).

For comparison, here is a mount that my wiring guy would get for me:
http://snapav.com/snapav/DetailView....e=SM-CS-ART1-M

I like the smaller size, but the price is $249

That is a good mount and not really overkill, IMO. I installed one of those 2 weeks ago. You will like the quality of construction on that mount.

Good to know. . . How easy is it to "operate"? Does it allow you to slide the TV in and out easily or do you have to loosen/tighten knobs and bolts each time you want to change the TV angle?

It has enough resisistance on the arms to keep it from moving real easy but it is loose enough to allow you to move it where you want.

Very easy to operate. My only complaint with this mount is that the mounting plate that goes against the wall is only about 28" wide, which if your wall stud spacing is 24", can make it tough to cover 2 studs and still be centered.

Hmm . . .that brings up another question that I hadn't given much thought too. How far off center do you need to mount this?

My connections wall plate and power wall plate are already installed so I may be out of luck for this one. I'm not as constrained on finding a stud, because the builder built out the entire TV area with 2x10s.

See below for a picture.

Do you plan to mount the TV above, between or below the wallplates?

The only place it will fit will be between. It's hard to see in the picture, but the TV area is recessed about 6 inches, so anywher else wouldn't really work.

What is the distance between the wallplates and, if you need to, could you move the power outlet to the right?

Is there an HDMI connection in that other wallplate set?

We closed on the house today so I'll get those measurements tonight. I'm not sure how feasible it will be to move the power outlet (but could ask). I did ask the builder about mounting a tv and he did say that the whole area is faced with 2'x10's so I don't have to worry about hitting a stud. May make moving the power outlet a little harder though.

Not yet, just component, but I have the guy who did the AV wiring coming out next week to install an HDMI cable there and run it to my media closet. He has structured wiring (4 x CAT5e cables), but the cost of the HDMI baluns on each end was more than an HDMI cable run so I'm having him do it that way.

I was able to get measurements last night. Check out the picture for the exact measurements.

In summary:
Component and power wall plates are 17" apart and are 16" above the top of the mantle. They are about 12" from the top of the enclosure.

The builder of that area must have thought you were going to use a stand mount because they sure didn't leave you much space.

What I would think about doing is going with some stand-offs from the back wall (2x2 or 2x4) to create some clearance for the plugs and then mount the swivel mount to the stand offs. I would go with a 90 degree power plug that would go behind the mount. You might be clear with the signal cables because the mounting plate of the mount is roughly 26" wide and cane be offset a bit from center because of the side to side swivel capability of the mount.

:edit: Are you sure you only want a 46" display? Well, if you do.. you have some options for swapping later to a larger display if you mount the swivel mount in the center.

Thanks for all your help . . . greatly appreciated it.

I should have mentioned it, but the receptacle on the power wall plate is recessed already (about an inch I would guess), so as long as the mount can "stradle" the power wall plate clearance shouldn't be a problem.
Also - Is there a low-profile surge protector that I can use in this area? Not sure how comfortable I am in just plugging the TV directly in.

I'm glad to be of any help that I can.

I still suggest some kind of stand off because I think the mounting bracket will be too wide and cover the power receptacle.

As for a surge protector, many of them are wall mountable and can be easily hidden behind the TV
