The recommended mounting height is about 48" to the center. I recommend using a cardboard cutout (from thebox the TV came in) and using that as your guide. I have mounted many TVs varying in height, depending on what's most comfortable for the viewer, from 48" to 7' up from the floor.

It's really a personal preference but you want the TV mounted so that it keeps your head and neck in a comfortable position while watching from your favorite viewing spot.

I agree. It is a lot of work mounting a big tv. The last thing you want to do is put it up and realize your neck hurts from watching it. I often get come duct tape and make a border where the TV will be and then have my customers sit on thier couch or chairs and make sure they are sure right where they want it!

Duct tape? Doesn't that take the paint off with it?

I use that cheap blue paint masking tape for that purpose at times.
