I've had an older Roku but not a 4. I like the FireTV simply because it's Android based and easy to add apps.

I've tried several media player boxes, WD etc, and I can't see the great value in them for me. I oped for a refurbished PC from an ebay seller with a nvidia graphics card. In addition to all of the apps available with a media player, I also have a large hard drive and virtually unlimited video capabilities including editing and much more. Using Windows Media Center software with a remote is very wife friendly. A PC with windows 7 can be set up for about $100.
