I prefer VLC media player. It is one of the best media players to watch videos. VLC supports almost any format, whether it is MPEG or FLV or AVI or RAW DV and you can even watch videos in different aspect ratios.

For some reason I think the OP was asking about stand alone media players not PC software.
My personal favorite is the Western Digital WDTV Live. In addition to youtube it also has other apps built in like Netflix. Also it can have USB Hard drives attached and you can play stored media from local drives as well as any device connected to your home network. I also have the ASUS and the Linksys media players, but they are not nearly as flexable as the WDTV Live. |

I think the latest version of the VLC player should be the best. It has the best compatibility I have ever seen. It’s easy to use and has a number of attractive skins as well.

Depends what you're looking for. VLC works with everything out of the box and under the sun. I've never had an issue with it save for some subtitling business on OSX (and only OSX). But it isn't a media center.
XBMC works wonderfully on linux/windows, will organize your media in a convenient and accessible interface and even download media info, artwork and artist info for your movies and shows. Plus it's awesome. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TR9-vahLi1s |

I use the Logitech Revue Google TV device. It works great for me to stream HD content from MY NAS-- but it is limited for some internet content because some sites and networks have "blocked" it. And with this, and most all Android devices, there is a large selection of media center and media player software available. This one looks interesting: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d9ARRYSkIq4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N7JKHtzB5_k |

That seems like a good idea. I'll change the forum title so maybe it will be more clear in the future.
