Default Storing Channels in Memory?

I lose all stored channels whenever I change the antenna's direction and re-scan. Is there a way to keep the stored channels in memory while scanning for new channels? Also, I cannot enter in the deleted channel numbers manually using the remote after they have been erased. Is that normal? My mother-in-law is also having the same problems.

In order to answer your question, we would first have to know which type, model number of tuner you have.

Some Digital Converter Boxes do not have a memory that retains the stored channels when you do a rescan.

Your best option is to replace it with either a Channel Master CM 7000 or a Zenith DTT 901

Neither I or my mother-in-law needed converter boxes. The tuner is built into the TV.

Read the manual that came with the TV.

You may have to scan each direction and record the stations found then go back and manually add those that were dropped.

Many new TV's also have two scanning modes, one scans and deletes old stations, the other scans and adds what's found to the database.

Read the manual or call the manufacturer and see if your TV tuner has that capability.

Give us your TV model # and we might be able to look it up.

I have scanned and recorded the stations. The problem is I can't seem to be able to enter them manually. I have contacted Samsung and am waiting for a reply.

Lance:

Some people are reporting that if they manually enter in the actual digital channel (including the decimal or dashed part), as opposed to the virtual/display channel, their tuner will go to the virtual channel and will manually add that channel into memory. My Sharp Aquos does this (and other Sharp owners have discovered this as well), even though it's not in the manual, and Sharp told me there was no way to manually add channels. Perhaps you've already tried both the actual and virtual channels already, but I wasn't sure from your post. In case it is helpful, the actual channels are available at http://www.rabbitears.info/market.php when you click on your city's name and then click on "Expand All."

Hope this is helpful...

Lance,

I have a Samsung TV, and can in fact add in channels "after" the initial scan without erasing anything. You just simply enter the "real" RF channel number, & the tuner should add the station with the correct"vitual" channel number into the memory. Do you understand the relationship between the "real & vitual" channel numbers?

Default Still Need Help

I'm still losing the stored channels whenever I rescan. I've had no response from Samsung yet. My TV is a Samsung HL-T5055W.

You "will" lose everything when you "re-scan" with the Samsung. Everytime you re-scan, you are starting from scratch.

Just do "one" scan, and then add any additional channels "manually" that you need in the memory.
