Hello All, I am a new member here. I have been reading alot about the antennas and color codes, and types of antennas to use, and i think i am even more cofused! I do have a current antenna, its just a cheap one from Walmart, i got it just to try things out to see how it works. I live in the Little Rock, Area and from what it looks i am no further then 6 miles from the towers. I really have no idea what kind of antenna i should get.
I have attached a jpg with some info With my current antenna i am picking up: KATV-HD KATV-DT HTHV-DT KLRT-DT I am really only looking for the Digital, HD stations. I have a 42in Panisonic. I am running the singal through my Vista Ultimate PC, so i am able to record tv. According to Vista the signal strenth for the digital stations is 90 to 100% but i still get some choppy times, even in perfect weather. Anyways if you need more info let me know. Any advice would be great! Thanks again for the help. |

Welcome to the forums!
Can you go to tvfool.com, enter your exact address, and post both the current all channel and post transition report? Tvfool is a better tool for evaluating tv reception than antennaweb. Which antenna did you purchase from Walmart? It's an indoor antenna, correct? Is there a hill between you and the KARK or KARZ towers? |

You have very strong signals in your area and definitely do not need an amplified antenna. If fact, amplification is likely to overload your tv tuner, read as very poor reception.
After the transition, you will have two high vhf channels (ch 7, KETS-PBS and ch 12, KTHV-CBS) and several uhf channels. You very possibly could receive all your signals with an indoor antenna. You would need a non-amplified antenna with rabbit ears and the loop for uhf. There are DIY antennas which would work well in your situation. For an outdoor antenna, there are several designed for suburban areas. I currently am using EZ HD antenna which would work well in your situation. Two other options are Antenna Direct HBU-22 and Channel Master 2016. HTH Rick |

Radio shack has a good *non* amplified antenna that should work well in your situation. I'd give that a try first. HTH Rick |

Is my antenna the reason for not getting KARK? This SHOULD be a strong single for me, but i don't get anything. Even when its not amplified (not plugged into power):-)
I am only getting 3 stations... |

KARK is a uhf channel and should be received by your antenna. I'd get an unamplified indoor antenna. Hopefully others more familiar with the Mant will jump in here...

Ok cool, i was at Radio Shacks website and found a few, now correct me if I'm Wrong, but i don't need an "HDTV" antenna right? THats just a buzz word for selling the antennas? i just need a UHF/VHF Indoor Antenna? My TV and Computer both have HD Tuners in them

Yes, you are correct! The marketers are trying to get us to spend more money by adding HDTV to the specs. Here is a good model which should work: http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...ductId=2103077

Not much to look at but should do the job if tvfool data is correct. You'll need to play around with various mounting locations inside your home and see which gives you the best reception. If you have a compass, the broadcast towers are located at 308 to 312 degrees. If you don't, for starters, face the antenna due north and then rotate a little more than 45 degrees to the north/northwest.
Let us know how it works for you. Rick |

This type of antenna is somewhat directional...
Orientation of the antenna will have some effects on reception although your situation should be easy given that all your locals are in the same direction and very close. Good luck Cdrshm! Best, Rick |
