Default homemade UHF AND VHF antenna?

So, I have been looking at all these DIY homemade antennas on Youtube and such, and they all look great, but i have noticed they are all UHF only setups. unfortunately, half of the HD channels in my area are VHF still, so I'm afraid it wont do.
Does anyone know of a good Homemade UHF/VHF design? or perhaps how to modify one of the DIY bowtie antennas to get VHF as well?

There are DIY that can tune high vhf channels. I can send you the pdf files if you would like them (send me your e-mail address in a PM). They're not real large but exceed the limit for this forum. Unfortunately, they do not have a positive gain for vhf ch 4....

Fox is so strong that you can probably pick it up with a paperclip, easily with rabbit ears. You could build a DIY'er for the uhf and rabbit ears for the vhf. You could use a jointenna to add Fox to your antenna downlead to your tv and dvr. Just a thought. The DIY can work well but they're not very attractive... Ugly, really!

I actually added 2 Radio Shack expandable radio antennas in parallel horizontally across the center of my homemade 4-bay and varied the lengths of both dipoles from 10” to 60” in 10” steps.
When I got to 50” and then 60”, loVHF channels 2 and 4 came in perfectly on my SONY TV. However, channels 7 through 13 really never got as good as for a rabbit ears at any dipole length, even at 17” (channel 7 quarter wavelength) at the SONY, or even up to the level of what I receive on my CM4221 from the attic. Also, the UHF signals at the SONY were all weaker than for the homemade 4-bay alone.

I then combined a GE Optimum VHF/UHF antenna (perfect hiVHF at the SONY) to my homemade 4-bay in the attic using a Monster cable bidirectional splitter/combiner (without regard to “phasing length”). The UHF signals were reduced at the SONY, but the hiVHF signals did not improve (combine).

Whatever it is, it isn’t easy!
